looking at these pictures really inspires a sense of awe. That is one impressive submarine. Really bears a lot more semblance to a destroyer than its distant u-boat cousins (particularly the Type II, poor little guy would feel awfully inadequate next to a Narwhal).

Granted, different boats for different roles. It's hard to imagine the Narwhal faring well in the Med. Or a Type II or VII doing fleet boat duty out of Pearl.
