Das Boot - Revisited on DVD

Wow, I just finished watching the full 4,5 hrs session of the TV-Mini Series "Das Boot". It was the first time for me to do so after 10 years. Now with my 52"-TV and a quality DVD-Player, I must say that I am still deeply impressed by this project. And remember that the film is almost 30years old.

I am not sure if everybody is aware, but this is the version that covers the complete story of 283 min, so actually even 100 min more than the Director's cut of the Movie.

It is still beyond me why it did not win any academy award at that time (it was nominated though).

The first half basically covers the complete life on the boat with all the boredom that you can also feel when playing SH3. They had 3 weeks of stormy weather, just like I tend to experience when playing the SH3 GWX 3.0 Gold extension.
The final hour then is all about the drama with the repair team to get the U-boat up to the surface again.

Highly recommended.
