Who else is feeling the pinch are jobs going down the drain in your country...

2008
12 large forestry companys close down, many are laid off up to 1200 jobs.

Last night after 32 years in bussiness one or our busy ports lays of all its whafies.

ANZ bank staff laid off due to cheaper services in india if we want to ring our bank we will be directed to india customer service for advice up to 300 kiwi staff will be laid off and some indian on the other side of the world will be employed.

Telecom our biggest phone company have done the same thing its cheaper to employ Malaysans than our own people when we ring telecom we will be directed to someone in Malasya.

Yesterday Govenment MP's get a $12000 salary increase - MP's $250,000 per year. How did they manage that!

More jobs loses are expected in 2009.

Well, my friend, except for the politicians (who always seem to look after their own self serving interests first) the rest is what they're call a "Global Recession". I don't think anyone is going to escape it.

Agree with you there! Some countries will feel it more than others, and some jobs sectors will be at greater risk than some. Now I can see another good reason for me becoming a train driver!

They reckon that unemployment will hit 5% within the next year or two here in Australia. The mining industry will be the canary in the coal mine here (no pun intended!) If they start laying off people and closing mines, there will be a rapid flow on to the rest of the country.

Their are options to succeed in this crisis.

Chance of success is low though,

Crime or police work is an option?

Find a job that is secure????? Almost impossible but few remain.

Join the military?

Now to guaranty your children future.... A rebellion is require must now. From all nation and all people fighting their corrupt governments. Its a global rebellion from the elitist who are robbing us dry. That is the only solution. But no one has the balls to do it.

They may even be able to crew four subs at any one time if this keeps up! The defence focres will be one of the biggest winners of any downturn as all the skilled people who were tempted away come running back as mines start closing!

Well, im in a job with 6 months warning or pay, so it will cost them if they decide to lay me off.

Besides...Im the only one who has been stupid enough to stay at the same company for so long

Everybody is feeling the pinch. I've been out of work since May, when I had to close my small business. And with the economic situation, and my mid 40s age, I'm hard pressed to find work since there are youngsters in their 20s and 30s I have to compete with, I'm in a tough spot.

Massive lay-offs at american law firms right now.

Shipping industry will probably be affected soon, although it'll probably just reduce the ridiculous manpower shortage to a manageable level.

No but a boon to our exporters! At least with our dollar going south, it will give a bit more protection to our economy, as well as make local products more able to stand up to imports.

So it's not all negative!

Indeed. For a while, the canadian dollar was higher than the USD - which made shore leave in the states great, but had a bad impact on our overall economy.
