Whatever you do stay the hell away from "Pirates of the Burning Sea".

Im not even sure why that game has pirates in its title.

The game is fine, I unsubbed it a while ago because currently the playerbase is horrible (When the game started out you could see a port-battle with classic battle-lines and actual strategy, nowadays everybody just charges the enemy)

As for a SP game, I would recommend Sid Meier's Pirates, great game

I played it for a month or two at launch. The line battles were fun if you could get an orginized group together.

Game imbalance, developer insecuritys and diddeling with the game messed it up.

Lack of depth was also an issue.

I still browse their forums now and then and it is a ghost town compared to launch. I really dont think they can maintain with that small a user base for much longer.

In that case the game might get bought off by SOE. Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

It was fun at times during beta, but got repetitive pretty fast.
