Default Adventure type games goes here

Have you tried adventure/quest type games ? What was your favorite ?

For me, in first place I still remember the week lasting effect after completing Fahrenheit aka Indigo Prophecy. Very immersive, calling in strong emotions!

In second place for me was: The Moment of Silence;
Then Syberia 1 and 2;

And many more which I can't remember now. Loved to play puzzle solving games, still always do

Puzzle/adventure games are definitely my favorite genre. Just too bad the genre is slooowly dying away.

Here's my Top5

1. Broken Sword 1
2. Broken Sword 2
3. Runaway: The road to adventure
4. Runaway: The Dream of a turtle
5. Fahrenheit

Still waiting for Runaway 3 to come out, the story didnt end to Dream of a turtle.

All those I listed are set in modern era. I highly recommend Broken Swords 1 & 2, dont bother with the rest, they suck. 1 & 2 have very nice 2D graphics on them and some breathtakin scenery at times.

Here's the trailer for BS1:

I didn't use to like adventure games. I've only recently started playing them again. These are the ones I really like:

Scratches
Penumbra (both chapters)
Leisure Suit Larry(Just about all of em)
Still Life
There was an old, old one based on H. R. Gieger artwork, I don't remember the name.
There was another recent one based on stone circles in England, that was pretty good.
I like the spooky ones the best. Scratches prolly had the best spooky atmosphere IMO.

I only played one in the recent years that I found really good:

The Longest Journey

Generally I have big problems with adventures today, especially the new type that has pseudo static 3D (left-right-forward). What I would definitely like top see would be true immersive 3D but with adventure mechanics like e.g. Call of Cthulhu without action! Action sequences ruin the fun for me, in an adventure I want to think.

I *love* detective games. Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie, CSI, all of that.

I cut my PC teeth on adventure games. Police Quest was, literally, the first game I ever bought for my first computer, and seeing the game being played was what convinced me to buy the comp in the first place.

Love all the old Sierra titles. Quest for Glory being my particular favorite.

The Longest Journey and Dreamfall, incidentally, are both pretty close to 'masterpiece'.

I LOVED the Space Quest series from Sierra. The Kyrandia series is great too. I also loved Deus Ex (It's a first person shooter as well as an adventure game in my book). Baldur's Gate and it's sequel. The old Adventure Construction Set for the Commador 64 (Probably my favorite), and also, I'd have to add Neverwinter Nights to this list. And Lets not forget about Silent Hunter III.

Zork 1,2,3 (textbase games you played the game by typing commands i.e 'turn left walk forward' then computer would tell you what happen and you input next commands)

The return of Zork (first to of the series to come on CD)

Zork Nemesis (Found this quite scarry back in the day ) Still a good game, if you can find it.

Dreamfall 1 & 2

BrokenSword 2

Fahrenheit

Myst (1)

Hi Dowly, watched the trailer but it's too cartoonish for my taste lol
Thanks anyway!

The longest journey, hard nut to crack really, if not useing any walktroughs. Tried several times to complete, but was getting frequently stuck in some places, so to my shame had to abandon this game..

Never tried the Longest Journey 2, due to lack of free space in HDD

Good game good game too..

After completing Fahrenheit, started to monitor its developer future projects. Quantic dream ( http://www.quanticdream.com/ ) is now working on another game called: Heavy rain. But it's not for PC platform so far..
