Default Sea State

If you want to factor realistic vessel management against conditions at sea, this chart will help delineate issues one may face regarding fuel consumption, boat acceleration, selecting proper boat speed under conditions, impact on mechanical and human elements, transit time, interception plotting and other in real life. I find it also is relevant to this sim:

Hope it helps!

So lets say i want to set the wind speed at 40 knots. Which sim file do you need to change? Because there is alot of them and i dont know which one you are talking about.

You can't. Well, you can, but it won't stick. 40 knots is about 20 m/s. The game will let you reset it all the way to 45 m/s, but it only works for one sitting. As soon as you reload the game the max defaults back to 15 m/s. That's why you can select double wave height in SH3 Commander - it makes it seem like the wind is blowing twice as fast.

If like me you are really into immersion:

http://www.calculateme.com/Speed/Kno...sperSecond.htm

Last night I was able to calculate that I was in a sea state 6 and with 18 ft seas and vizability of maybe 50 meters. In that sea state it was prudent to seek calm water 30-50m in depth so the crew and the boat did not suffer. Again, just immersion ...

Hurricane Ike would drive me down to 80m where we would hunker down and eat hardy and play Jimbuna era records and recall the fine days with Helga!

Haha. For me Era Music means original music from that WW2 period played on platters on gramaphones and old tube radios ... not swarthy, toothy, swarmy swooners from post WW2.

I listen to them while I transit and eat my grub ... thanks! I enjoy them. Good selection. I switch them in and out on patrols.
