Attention to all great mod maker for SH4 and I appreciate your great hard work with your mod creation, I ask you could please keep the version 1.4 alive cause there are not very many people like me aren't on the latest addon version 1.5 using Silent Hunter 4.
I not very fair when I myself really enjoy the game and your great mod creation, please keep it at the 1.4 platform for other people who can enjoy your mod work of art. I know you guys are having so much fun on the 1.5 version platform and moving all your new mod to the next version, it really hurt when some people can't get the SH4 1.5 u-boat addon version. Please be fair to other people who are still using SH4 v1.4 along with the v1.4 mod addon by you guys, I cannot used the v1.5 mod creation over the 1.4 because I don't have the addon version pack. save your pocket money...9.99 kinnda stinks but it's worth it and it would take a lot of effort to redo all those mods for 1.4 only (some can't be done)

I was like you at first. I wanted the mods to be made 1.4 compatible. After a while I realized that I needed the U-Boat add-on even though I have zero interest in U-Boats anymore. With all the awesome mods that are out for 1.5 you would be doing yourself a great disservice to not get the add-on. In addition, I don't think it is fair to tell the modders that it isn't fair of them to not keep 1.4 alive. The game has moved on past 1.4 and if you don't catch up you will be left behind. That's just the blunt fact of the matter.

We made the decision long ago to maintain only a 1.5 version of RFB, because it is far too difficult and time-consuming to maintain two different versions of the mod. As the majority of the community has moved on to 1.5, there's really no driving force to keep making mods that work for 1.4.

for the most part i have noticed that many 1.5 mods also work for 1.4 even though it wasnt intended that way. its not always the case but quite often any mod that makes changes to something other than the AI will probably work as is on 1.4 for you.
what you need to do is learn how the mods you like were made so you can make your own 1.4 versions. your request has been expressed many times by others but no one has been willing to take up the challenge to convert the mods they desire so they are 1.4 ready. most modders will be glad to help you in this effort as long as "you" do all the work. |

Guys hold all your torpedo I might get lucky this Saturday as their is a big computer market going on which run by the community to help raise money for the children hospital for kids who has cancer, a mate of mind told me they will be selling all kinds of stuff computer hardware, spare parts and PC Games etc etc.
So I might get lucky with the SH4 U-boat Missions addon or the SH4 Gold Edition who knows what's out there, okay while I was reading through this forum here and I fully understand. I'm not trying to create a big fight and I know most people find it hard to get the addon version, sooner or later somebody might come here and start a big fight about the mod creation platform version. All I was just asking with no hard feelings to keep the mod version 1.4 alive over 1.5, just case somebody might jump in and grab the gun for no reason to start a fight over a mod incapability problem that all. Like I said before I really enjoy your great work creating the mod the make the SH4 game comes fully alive over the stock version, and also I'm SH3 with the latest GWX Mod v2.1 alond with all the other goodies. Id get the add on, It makes the game run somewhat better, and if you want a change form fleet boats, Operation Monsun Is great for the atlanic, and the monsun boats ( lets you go from Lorient to Penang).

If you think about it, what would have happened if someone had a problem after the 1.3 patch came out and wanted 1.2 versions of mods. We all would have piled on about 20 feet deep with "You idiot! Why would you want to play 1.2? It stinks!"
Now, the question between 1.4 and 1.5 doesn't get any such response. Doesn't that mean that patch 1.4 was pretty darn good? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

While I dont make mods for SH, I do help manage a mod community for another game and have been making mods for years, and as a modder I can say:
Its not a matter of simply deciding to stop supporting a version. People mod the version that they play. If you play 1.4, you arent able to make 1.3 mods, nor would you want to. The same goes for those on 1.5. Mods are made first and foremost for the modder that creates them, then released to share with the public. Just normal people like you or I, modding the game that they play, and allowing other's to share in their work. There is no production line or paid job. It's definitely a pain when you are on one version and the community is on another, but there is little that can be done for it. Essentially if we want to use the mods, we are at the will of the majority of the community, and the majority usually tends to run the latest, most stable and preferred versions of the game that they are modding.
