Default Deck gun rate of fire..

Iam running trigger maru 1.5 and the deck gun reload is very slow.. I can see the reload being slow in rough weather, but when you have calm sea's the rate of fire should not be 1 round every 30+ sec if your lucky..More like 1 round every 15 sec..Now how do i fix it??

There has been a lot of back and forth discussion about "realistic" load time, but if you are not happy with them, they are in the gun's sim file. Open with S3D.

Ah, fools (no offense) rush in where angels fear to tread! I know that for a deck gun bolted onto a concrete base on dry land with ammo stacked right beside the gun and Magilla Gorillas shooting as fast as they can at nothing, 15 second cycles might be attained.

But deck guns, not only bolted to real decks (yay!!!! finally right. I still like read lecks better), but the decks of submarines, fed not by Magilla Gorilla but by sub sailors not trained using bananas, and who are not particularly proficient, where the ammo is fed by a line of guys passing hand to hand on a wet, pitching, sometimes slippery deck, where the pitching of the boat makes each shot an exercise of precise timing and profanity, one shot every 30 seconds is commendable.

This has been brought out by a study of submarine action reports where rate of fire could be determined. Beery went through all of this in loud and contentious detail over a year ago.

I'll tell you what. I have a copy of the development version (it never went beyond that so far as I know) of New Real Deck Gun. For development purposes the gun loads in about 2 seconds. But that doesn't matter a bit because your gun is no longer gyro stabilized. It pitches with the sub deck. Reload time is now irrelevent. Check it out and knock yourself out with the 2 second reload time. You'll BEG for 30 second reloads and a gyro stabilized gun.

Oh, the correct time to fire is the precise instant when the crosshair crosses the horizon.

I read the lecks every morning, right after I read the newspaper. I don't know SteamWake, must be some instructions on how to reload the gun in under 30 seconds.:hmm:

Wasent there some guy who made a mod to make the deck gun fire like a machine gun?

That might be a lot of fun to goof around with.

the stock reload time on deck guns is 4 seconds i think, so just replace the TM gun file with the stock version or simply delete the file from TM so it remains at stock settings.

i have a deck gun mod that reloads every 2 seconds if you want to try that but if you want to do your own version it is easy to do. im on a borrowed computer so i cant access my files but the reload times are in the sim files, see what i did in my mod and set it to use your own times.

i found what ever you set it to it will be about 1 or at least a half second longer reload time than what its set to.

the tool that kptn_kaiserhof is talking about using is the mini tweaker, but it has been replaced with the silent 3ditor so you dont need tweak files any more. its way easier to use and can do so much more.

Why use minitweaker when you can load the file directly into S3D and make the changes in 10% of the time and not have to go through all the hassle of creating tweak files?

Also, 30 seconds is unusually long for TMO. Do you have the crew slots fully manned for your deck gun? This drastically changes the reload times.
