Default PT's mod: creak sounds looping issue

Hi to all, I'm using PT's sound mod. It's really a great sound mod, but sometimes I experience some issues in creak sounds.

When I go deep or get surfacing at high time compression the creak sounds start looping and are played even if I've already surfeced. But if I dive again they can disappear (probably they restart to be played, so the loop breaks itself).

So, any suggestion? can i delete some of them from sound folder?

thanks,
s

If you delete some of them from the sound folder, the game can crash due to lack of file when it tries to find it.

I'm not having this issue, is anybody else having this issue?

Note that issues with sound is a stock problem with sh3 when using high time compression.

How long do the files play? If the creaks are more than 15-20 seconds they can have looping problems. The same thing happens with the Das Boot Sound Mod. In spite of that, I don't think I ever fixed it.

I think that the longest sound don't have 12 seconds... its about 8 seconds avarage, below GWX's...

I've made the sounds the shortest possible exactly to eliminate that issue, but it's smelling like its more like a hardware problem, coz some people have it and some do not...

Thanks, I toke a look in Sound folder, and I saw there are many Creacks-levelXX files over 15seconds, like the number 11 (19") or 13 (17") or 19 (17")..

the number 11th seems actually the implied one, so I might shorten it..

This may have something to do with time compression, are you using SH 3 commander?
If so have you changed any of the compressions,I think if you change the sound effects commpresion this will happen,at least it did for me.

Hi, yes I did! I changed the TC value to 8x when I'm close to coast and to 32x in receiving radio messages (that didn't work)..

now I come back the changes and let see...

Lets hope that SH4 have less bugs than SH3 in aspects like sound issues and ctds...

this does happen at higher time compression at my end.

you dont need to quit the game.....simply go to tc1......dive deeper or raise the boat some meters.

this changes the creak sound to another.....therefore stopping the loop.
after that..stay in tc1 ....till you want to surface etc.

Yes it did this last night with me.

I was diving deeper and then to speed it up I used the time compression and it start a loop creeking sound till I stop the engine and restarted it. Or its when I reset my depth level deeper. Then the sound stopped looping.

Somethings wrong PT. sorry these guys are onto something.

Even if your outside the Uboat you can hear the looping.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion, it's like I was doing... but, you know, when you are in an attacking situation, you couldn't have the time/oportunity to go deep and rise again when 5 DDs are searching for you and you want hit at least one merchant in a large convoy!!

But, I think (guess) to have resolved it:
I went into Sounds folder, and I found the troubling files (creack number 11 and 14). I changed their names so the game can't recognize any more them, AND replaced them with other shorter creak files (choosed <10sec; just copied and renamed the copies as 11 and 14).

It seems work, at least to nowaday......

let see..
