Default installation question..

Ahoy noch einmal frage ich!!

With the riskof being keelhauled or left on deck whilst crash diving , i have to ask the following..(as GWX thread and homepage is...encoded by RAF)

1. I have only played SH3 a couple of times...DO i have to reinstall if i want to do theGWX grey wolves update...??

2. Can i install the 2.0 first and imedeately install the 2.1 update ontop?

3. The 2.0 contains seven files + an exe file. 845 kb.....the 2.1 only one file of 158 megs? is this correct????

do these question give me rank and time in diesel fumes or do i have a chance of stearing the boat???(joke)

tnx all

WELCOME ABOARD!

The answer to all is yes, sort of.

1) What do you mean by "played it"? Have you started a career? I think the basic idea is that you don't have any other mods in the way. If you've played a couple of games just to look at it, I think you should be okay. Still, it never hurts to be sure. I can't remember how many times I've re-installed SH3.

2) Actually that's the way you're supposed to do it.

3) Yes, that is correct. 2.1 is an add-on to the main mod.

As for steering the boat, I think you'll have to ask Neal.

Depending on how old or new your SH3 game dics is, there is a 1.4 patch from UbiSoft. If your game needs this patch, it would be installed before GWX2.0, then GWX2.1 update and then there are a couple of GWX2.1 fixes recently released by BigBoyWooly.

Highly recommend SH3 Commander 3.1 as well, as a separate install. To play Commander with GWX 2.1, there are some update files that need to be installed into the cfg folder within SH3 Commander. These are all easily available and easy to install.

You can find out all of this on the SH3 Mod forum.

If you have just bought the game, it's probably fully patched. You can check the version number by either looking in the bottom right corner of the main game menu or by right clicking the SH3.exe and choosing properties.

This link has full instructions for installing GWX - http://www.thegreywolves.com/FAQ.htm
