Default SH4 + U-Boat missions. Issues? Worth?

Hello,

Im debating getting SH4/UBM and i was wondering if there are any known issues with the Uboat missions update.

SH4 is working flawlessly for me under 1.4 and i dont want to spend the money for 1.5 without asking around.

Critiques or comments please!

There are some issues with the U-Boat expansion pack - I've had a bit of problems with the graphics on my geForce 7600 and it took some fiddling back and forth with settings to make it work. I still have some issues with jelly-like water that I'll look into correcting later (when it REALLY starts nagging me hehe).

Also some minor problems with crew eyes turning odd or crew not leaving the bridge when the sub is submerged. The eye thing can be fixed by switching crewmembers back and forth and the other thing by a save/load.

In spite of that I'm really glad I bought U-Boat Missions a short while ago. The game has some really interesting missions and features and I've had a lot of fun with it.

Ditto! You can transfer your career to SH4UBM by saving in port. Fleet boats are a little better and the U-Boat is a blast. Buy it and enjoy.

Im running a 8800gtx,

so will i experience the water issues you are refering to? or is it simply a Graphics card horse power issue.?

Crew on deck and eyes... is that a frequent problem?

One of the factors for SH4 is the immersion i enjoy in the game... sailing about for hours on the prowl, but visual bugs snap me back.

I don't have thos problems and I'm running an EVGA 7600GT card. There have been some issues with Vista, but I'm not aware of what they are.

I don't believe it's a horsepower thing, but having only tested it on one card I cannot really say. The reason I posted which card I'm using is that from the threads I read on it it seemed to happen mostly to geforce owners.

No, the eye thing happened twice to me the first day I played but I haven't seen it since. The crew on deck thing only happened once.

Both of these are issues with the core game. If you are not experiencing them now, chances are you won't with 1.5.

The crew staying on deck is a known issue. It happens when you alt-tab out of the game. Save, exit to main menu and reload. That will solve it. The save/reload, also works for the CO2 bug, which usually happens when surfacing under high time compression....CH

This alt-tab mumbo jumbo is pure superstition but your fix is valid. With me it only happens if I've had sex in the past week. I have no desire to do what's necessary to fix the problem and my wife kind of enjoys screwing up my game.

I don't think it's clearly understood exactly what causes these inconsequential anomolies, but they are most entertaining and easily fixed if they bug you. As you said, save and reload. You're back in business. That's hardly a game-breaker. Buy with confidence and enjoy.

I recently added the UBM pack to my SH IV and I have had no problems with the game. The UBM adds a lot to the game imho.
