Answering the US missile shield: Russia may consider return to Cuba

History runs in circles.

Again this is sloppy journalism.

It was reported in the Moscow Times which for Russian issues I consider to be more reliable. In it a FORMER member of the defence staff suggested that Russia should base nuclear bombers in Cuba or use it as a refuelling point. There was nothing in the article suggesting that it was a serving member of the defence staff in the Kremlin who floated this idea....

Yes, but actually it would be a logical step:
- it would give russia a foothold in the carribean again. After reactivating Latakia in Syria, Mariel could be the next former USSR base reactivated by Russia
- It would be an additional source of income for Cuba. Russia could pay handsomely for basing right.

So what? Let's look this the other way, Russia builds an missile shield to Cuba. I bet the reaction would be pretty similar from the US than is now from Russia. Move along, nothing to see here.Cold war has ended.

From what i've read Chavez has offered to allow Russian combat troops to be stationed in his country so it might be a moot point anyways...

But Chavez is a dick and even Medvedev knows that. They like his money but I bet behind his back they laugh at him.

I bought some Cohiba's and figured they were probably Dominican's just with a Cohiba wrapper. The Border geeks took them away from anyway. So I only smoke LaGloria Cubana's now. Not bad. My Rottie likes em too. The damn dog eats the end part of the cigar when i am done with it.
