It's an optical illusion. The rotor is actually spinning.

Indeed. Video has just been slowed down, so you can't actually notice a blur.

So I would of thought but theres not even a trace.
a perfect synchronizaton, wouldnt he loose sink with a
change in the rotation rate?

I agree with the first two posters: it's an optical illusion, which does look damn cool though.

edit: Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't choppers usually using a pretty constant rotor RPM, which is maintained via adjusting pitch? That would make synchronization quite easy.

When I was a boy I noticed that sometimes in movie westerns when a wagon was shown driving by the spoked wheels would seem to stand still, or move very slowly forwards or even backwards.

Same thing here, but very well done. Notice how the tail rotor can be seen moving, when normally it would just be a blur.
