The Daily Show's Jon Stewart did a book awhile ago about American history. One of the chapters was on the founding fathers, and why they could't get elected today.

I'm just going on memory, so the quotes aren't exact, but here are three I remember:

Washington: Those teeth would never sell on television.
Jefferson: "Hello, miss Hemings? This is Connie Chung."
Madison: 5'4" tall and 108 pounds, and that's after the camera adds ten.

We really are addicted to the frivolous.
