Default GWX on a 64MB Graphics card?

Hello everyone,

Been away from the forums for awhile...and upon coming back I started looking at the GWX updates that have been coming out. I am very intrigued and would like to give it a shot. I have not played SHIII since last summer and this would be a good excuse to do a clean install and get back into it. The only issue is that I play SHIII on a laptop (3.2GHz Pentium IV, 1.5GB of RAM and a GeForce Go FX5200 w/64mb). When playing SHIII I had no problems as long as I did not use any harbor traffic or the 16km mod.

Before I invest the time and energy in downloading and installing GWX have any of you run it on a system with a 64mb graphics card? Are there mods or tweaks for GWX to make it enjoyable on a 64mb card? I got the CPU and the RAM but unfortunately the graphics card I have is the best that can be gotten for the laptop I own (Dell Inspiron 5160).

TIA

Well, the truth is going to be harsh.

Even stock SH3 recommended specs call for a 128mb card.

We were very careful to keep graphic resolutions same as stock with very few exceptions. (U-boat interiors)

The long loading times are due to the comprehensive campaign built into GWX... and there is no avoiding it... not due to buckets of super-hi-res textures.

Even so, you are really going to need more video power even with stock SH3 to run it comfortably.

I hate telling you that... but GWX would likely not run well on your PC.

Get use to drinking coffee while you wait for the game to load! You might find that your frame rates take a hit when there is a lot of traffic around.

I'd recommend 256MB as a minimum

Thanks fellas, appreciate the info....I may give it a shot due to SHIII working well on this machine...but I will not get my hopes up. More fuel to the fire for biting the bullet and getting a newer machine.
