Default Friendly Advice Requested....

I am considering using RFB or TMO. I have never used a mod before, and will not use any others with whichever one I do choose, and just would like some opinions/advice on them to help me along the decision path. I'm currently running stock 1.4.

Thanks in advance for the input guys.

TMO is pretty much in it's completed form. RFB is in beta testing and ready in a week or so. If you want to jump right in today. I recommend TMO. Your choice. Get JSGME (generic mod enabler). Read the readme file for installing and using. Of all the mods and tools created....this one is on top of the list. A must for enabling mods....no fuss, no muss.

I can only agree with AVGWarhawk. With JSGME you can enable or disable mods easily......so if you don't like one mod you can try another without having to delete, just enable/disable again and again without any fuss. JSGME is a must.
I use TMO and really enjoy it. Adds more challenge to the stock game. Whatever mod you use, good luck and good hunting!

I got the JSGME already and installed it. RFB 1.4 is still in testing? I thought just the version for 1.5 was in testing?

Oh, sorry. I thought you were running 1.5. Even so, I would use TMO.

Is TMO compatible with nsm by now?
In the FAQs it's marked as not compatible....
That was actually the reason for me not to try it at all.

I will only run them by themselves, once I decide, with no other mods,at least for now.

Not compatible! Pulled from the mod for various reasons. I run both TMO and RFB in seperate installs. I don't miss NSM. Thats just me. To not try TMO because of incompatibility with NSM is well...try it anyway...you won't be dissappointed.

Happy Hunting!

I have never compared them via Pro's and Con's. Download both read the documents. Set up two installs of SH4 with MultiSH4 and run them both. Enjoy! You can have both why bother comparing. Two really great mods! Different but great.

I agree with Wilcke; however, if you don't want to or know how to do two installs, try one and then the other--with jsgme that is easy to do. For me, there was little difference between the two, but I would judge RFB to be slightly more historic--for example no compass azimuth in the binoculars. That is more accurate, but because of lack of normal visual cues I like the azimuth in them. Like that...
