Patrol Objectives

I'm having a problem with my Patrol Objectives not showing as completed.

Example: June 1942,from Pearl Harbor,Iwas ordered to patrol off Honshu. I proceeded to the location,sank 20k tons,and it never changed from orange to grey. I went to Midway,re-fitted,returned,and and still no change. This has happened repeatedly,no matter the objective.

Any ideas?

If your patrol area contains binoculars then you must remain in the area for a certain period of time. I have found that it is usually within 100nm and 48 hrs. If you leave the area the mission is incomplete. I usually take the compass and draw a 90 miles radius and stay within that and time compress. If any ship come in the area I sink them but I don't chase them out of the area because the mission will not complete. Or you could just sit on the star and time compress for 48 hrs and then go sink some ships.
If the assigned area is a flag then it will complete when you arrive and then give you a secondary mission, usually to sink merchant shipping.
