OMG - lots of questions

Hello,
i have been absent for a longer time, and after buying SHIV in April 2007 i quickly uninstalled it - my rig was not up to the graphics, all those bugs and finally real life got me.
So now i have once more installed SHIV on a new PC, and the graphics are even worse than they were a year ago on my old rig.

P5K Mainboard
intel core duo 2.33 GHz
2Gb crossfire ram
MSI Nvidia NX7300 graphic card with 256Mb (not really upper end i know)

I have patched SHIV to ver. 1.4, which seems to be the last we'll ever see from UBI (?). At least the "A" crashes seem to be gone ... but the game is unplayable (slideshow) without unchecking all checkboxes in the graphics menu - nice, but what kind of PC did they have in 2007 ?!

So i read all those threads here about mods, supermods, tweaking Nvidia and ATI cards, and i am even more confused than before.
Apart from the hardware (looking for a 8800 GTX) i have problems with the patches:
I want to install ROW, Trigger Maru and RSRD (alternative is ROW, RFB and RSRD but i decided to try the first combination).
ROW is ok, but some links in the FAQ and other threads don't work.
Trigger Maru: Which one is the current version for the 1.4 version (without the add-on and patch 1.5), for i found 4 different files mentioned without making clear which is for what :hmm: .
Are there different version of RSRD depending on the other two mods ? And which would i need ?

ANd yes ther are different versions of the different MODS depending on what combos you wish to run. And yes RSRD no longer supports 1.4 and RFB for 1.5 is not yet ready and I agree with RDP perhaps you should go and study the readme's for the different MODs and then decide just what you want to do. But before you go too far you might consider changing toan 8800 video card with as much video ram as you can afford

Here is one other thingie about the u-boat add on, if your computer has any problems on pulling it's weight with the 1.4 patch, i suggest you's think twice on getting the add-on. I don't know why, but as far as grapics go it seems the add-on makes the game even more demanding. Althou i have to say it's a shame becouse it is a good addition to SH4. Be it you do play the u-boats or not,...

Not sure how long either of these will be up for so get them as fast as you can. Hope this helps you out.

thanks all for your answers - i will get that download mentioned asap, and see whether i get SH IV going. I am sometimes unnerved with those games how they come out of the box - thank the modding community for making it playable, and all those additional goodies
