Default intel E6600 and E6750 c2d

Hey guys, 1st time posting in some years so i hope i'm at the right fourm, i didn't see a tech fourm.

Anyway i'm upgrading my CPU to either a E6600 or a E6750 from an old athon 3000+ 64. The E6750 caught my eye in price + specs and in order to get that i have to upgrade my mobo and ram which will run me between $350 - $400

I just found out today i have a co-worker that has a E6600 + mobo he will sell for $230. Both items are less then a year old and on top of that, he will throw in a aftermarket cooler.

I guess my question out of all this info is how does SH4 run on both CPU's. I know that SH4 req 2.0GHz and the 6600 is 2.4 and 6750 is 2.6. Is the different between the 2 CPU's a big differents?

If i get the E6600+mobo+cooler, i will probley OC to 3.0. Will i noticed any differents in game play between 2.4 and 3.0

Any and all info will be great!

Thanks everyone!

You won't even notice the difference in the two chips. As for overclocking, depends on what it can handle.
If you buy the 6750 (which suprised me because it is $45 cheaper) and new RAM check out newegg for Corasir XMS2 800mhz. Can handle overclocking well and 2GB after rebate is $29. Yup that's right $29. Just make sure you get the right stuff. Some is 2.1 volts and some is 1.9v. My motherboard only supported 1.8v, the 1.9v is fine just up the voltage in bios. So if you go brand new, the motherboard will be the only difference in price. The 6750 is $185 + $29 ram= $214. So it's for you to decide on Motherboard price minus $16 for brand new, or $230 for used. Can't make that decision for you. Of course you say he will throw in an after market cooler, depends what it is. If you plan to do any serious overclocking a cheap one won't do it.
The 6750 supports a faster FSB and is a little faster, but I don't think you will see the difference.

Forget the 6600, just get the 6750!
And get a decent mobo for it, like the GigaByte EX38-DS4, and 1066Mhz RAM (PC2 8500).
