Default Annoying aircraft

Ok, I know that the realism buffs will stone me for asking this but.

Is there a mod that simply removes all aircraft from the game?

I cant stand them, every 2 seconds I get pulled out of time compression to a stupid aircraft. If I dive they still see my scope and hover there for the whole day. If I engage them my crew cant shoot them down no matter how many passes they do and I end up taking on water.

I would honestly enjoy this game 1000x more if they just wernt there. I know its not realistic in the slightest but, oh well.

How about one that cuts back on the encounters?

Try Akbar Gulag's air layer for stock or the one in RSRD

Dark, this is a simple edit if you choose.
after removing your stoning helmet....
go to
SH4/data/cfg/airstrike.cfg

open that file with note pad you can make minor changes to the airstrike logic. but turning some of those numbers down, the fields are pretty self explanatory.

to be honest, i turned mine down just a tad, i still get bugged by the airplanes but its not quiet the historic epidemic that the stock game models

(ATR dons stoning helmet and flame suit)

Edit, i agree with FA, ive never seen them hover over me for more than a few passes either...

I have NEVER seen aircraft hover over me for an entrie day?????
Their fuel would just not permit that kind of operation. Usually they
just drop the bombs and leave. They may revisit but not right away.

Sorry FAdmiral, that was an exageration. They dont sit there for the WHOLE day. I just find it annoying that I'm totally underwater and all thats above is a lil pipe and they spot it EVERY TIME.

Now, I'm no expert by any means but I have watched WWII documentaries and I'm pretty sure they said its quite difficult to spot a subs scope.

Anyway though, thanks for all the help in this, I cant wait to get rid of em. *puts stoning helmet on quick* :-P

I'm looking at the airstrike.cfg file right now and while I kind of understand what its saying, I dont 100% know what to do.

Also will this effect games already saved or will I have to start over to see a result?

Does anyone know if the Japanese began night air patrols in the later war years? I just barely made it through a recon of Hiroshima (May 1945) after enduring what seemed like 24 hour-per-day air patrols.

Apparently there are accounts of them from Admiral Fluckey. He even went as far to say they were a serious threat to Fleet Boats. I do not think the game structure has them come into effect at a certain date though. It appears they are just a small chance at nay one time across the whole theatre.
