Tex, is this a game that you play? It looks very interesting.

@ Tex What addon mods/textures are you using in your version? I tried most high res packs and I can't get my sim to look anything like that. ![]()

AVGWarhawk, danlisa pretty much answered your question, only thing I'd add is that you can find many great addons for it and its all free of course.

Yeah, Orbiter is one of those hard-core sims that makes SH3 and FSX look like Xbox arcade shooters.
![]() You can literally use real NASA docs and manuals to fly your missions. I'm just glad they decided to add the fictional "Delta Flyer" for those of us without degrees in orbital mechanics and astrophysics. ![]() The number of historical and fictional mods is truly staggering! If you ain't got it, get it! I also highly recommend Flight Gear as a very nicely done alternative to FSX and FS2004. The world map that you can fly around takes up about 3 DVDs. FG is also free and open source.

With so many mods though can Tex maybe list the names of the texture packs he has so I can do a quick search for them as there is a mind boggling amount to choose from.
Also is there an idiots guide like a checklist for getting into orbit and back. Something I can print out and put next to my PC. I can do it with the Delta Glider and get a 200km high orbit though it isn't quite prefect because even after cutting thrusters at 200km and ecc at almost zero I am still gaining altitude slowly. |

There are plenty of tutorials and quick-guides online. You just have to look around a bit and follow some of the links.
Here's a few of the Orbiter sites from my bookmarks... http://orbiter.dansteph.com http://www.orbithangar.com http://www.ibiblio.org/mscorbit/ http://www.orbitmods.com http://www.moonport.org Even the Delta Flyer will still behave according to the physics model, which is very well done, so you have to bear in mind it will in no way fly like an X-Wing from Star Wars. Try to think of it more as a very advanced Space Shuttle. It's kind of tough getting the hang of it, even more so if you're not that inclined towards physics and geometries, but that first time you succeed in making a flawless orbital insertion and re-entry can feel as satisfying as sinking HMS Hood in SH3. Some of the more fun things to try is a "what-if" scenario with manned missions to Mars to establish permanent bases. People who play 1xTC SH3 are creampuffs compared to the nuts that play Orbiter at 1xTC. :p

I know it is hard and I like it. Just I need a simple checklist instead of having to wade through the manual.
At the moment I concentrate on getting a nice orbit. Then I'll try docking. |

What I do have at my folk's house is a late 1980's Shuttle space flight manual my dad bought in Houston.
With checklist and everything. I could scan some stuff in if people are interested. |
