Default GWX 2.0 and vanilla SH3

Hi, been looking into installing the latest GWX. On the installation instructions, one of the key steps is to reinstall SH3. I was wondering if the reinstallation is absolutely necessary for the GWX installation. I have a complete vanilla SH3, the only update I made is the patch to 1.4.

Aside from my campaign files, I can't think of how the directory would be any different than right after a reinstall and patch update.

Theoretically this should be a clean enough version to just install GWX without the reinstall, correct? Just want to make sure before I try and screw something up.

Another question, is there a place (other than the torrent) to get all the GWX .bins in one download? Simultaneous DL's kill my bandwidth.

Thanks in advance guys, looking forward to trying this mod out.

Hi!

You are taking a risk not removing SHIII, but you can still make a try.

Begin with totally removing all saves under "my Documents/SHIII/...etc etc.

Remove the whole SHIII-folder and throw it into the bin. => All old careers wiped out .

Then install GWX2 and start a new career => New folder is created.

Q: Do you use SHIII Commander? If not, you really should!

Good luck

/OB

The GWX installer specifically checks the campaign files and compares them to the known properties of the stock copies.

If and only if you are sure that no other aspect of the game files have been changed, it might be possible to ask someone for the 'clean' unmodded campaign files from a stock installation so that you can copy & paste into your install so the installer will report passes on the tests.

Gameshadow offers a single point download. Check for the direct link on the GWX Website (below my Sig).

I had an install with an already started career and installed GWX without reinstalling SH3 as I haven't had any changes.

Besides the fact that I could not continue the old campaign no problem for me.

If you cannot find the CD but still have the key or the package why not ask UBI to send you another one?

Well, went ahead with the GWX install at my own risk without reinstalling first. Install process went fine, game loaded up fine. Intro movies, main menu...all working fine.

However, single player missions and campaigns both lock up at the final loading screen with the loading bar only having about an inch to go (same spot on the loading bar every time). Training missions, however, work fine. I am guessing that the training missions weren't modified for content at all by GWX, however whenever a mission or campaign is loaded that includes new content, it is detecting something wrong.

Looking like I will have to find my CD and just reinstall, unless someone else has any ideas? Is there a capture log I can look at after the lockup occurs just to see where exactly the problem is?

It's odd I dont see how my SH3 folder would have been any different than a new install, aside from saved player profiles (of which I created a new one with GWX). And that sort of thing doesn't seem like it would create problems in campaigns and single player missions, but not the training missions.

Doh! That was it...just had to wait longer for the loading. Started up a campaign today, a lot of the little additions are very nice, and overall it is more challenging. Great job GWX team, thanks!
