Hit the save key in notepad (of whatever you opened it with) + make sure its not a read only file.

A file that you can only read, and not write to.

@ gross14,

Hi, If you're using Vista you have to have everything set to Administrator, otherwise you won't be able to save the .cfg files.

Oh and welcome aboard, herr kaleun.

Sorry I've taken so long to repond - work getting in the way.

OK

1. left click on the windows icon - extreme bottom left of the screen
2. Left click on Control Panel - a small window will open
3. Left ckick on Control panel Home - upper left of this new small window
4. Look for the "Security" section - it has a shield as an icon - and leftt click on
"Check this computer's security status" - another small window will open - labelled
"Windows Security Centre"
5. This window lists your security settings (Firewall etc ) At the bottom of the list
should be "User Account Control". To the right you should see a button which - if
you left-click it - will turn User Account Control OFF.
6. Click to turn UAC off and then close down the windows - That's it.

User Account Control prevents certain actions. Turning it off opens up your computer so that you can save the .cfg files etc.

.... and BEFORE you play with anything it is wise to copy the whole SH III DATA folder somewhere safe...

takes a moment and some space, but ... it will save your virtual BUTT more than one time.

hehe

Gross14

Go to Data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat7c\NSS_Uboat7c.cfg and edit the 1st section [Unit] lines for the speed you want to run at. You have to change each .cfg file for each type of boat.

the defaults for this type of boat are:
MaxSpeed=17.0
MaxSpeedSubmerged=7.6

The game will let you take your boat up to nukem-boat speeds, if you want go that fast.

You can use the sh3 mini tweaker or silent 3ditor to change the uboots speed, diving depth etc.
