Default Staying on the bridge longer

In SHIII as soon as I order P depth or Dive or even Crash dive I am immediately placed in the control room, is there a way to delay that from happening and remain on the bridge longer? What do I need to edit?

I'm not sure why you'd want to remain on the watch tower longer.

One of the first things done during a normal dive was to clear the bridge and secure the hatch. After that the actual dive was started. A crash dive actually had the dive procedures started as the watch crew (or, Heaven forfend, gunnery crews or mainenance personnel) started heading inside. A risky procedure but, then again, you didn't just do a crash dive as a lark; there was a reason to get deep fast, after all.

"Tauchen!"

"Coming down Herr Kaleun?"

"Nein, it's a nice sunset, I want to admire the suns rays as it...hey...my feet are wet...Hey! Open that Verdamnt hatch!!"

While on this question another arises, why doesn't the watch officer appear on deck when you surface? Placing him there manually just gives me one more thing to do. Any thoughts?

Not so sound rude but I didnt ask for a Uboat Policy Procedure. Perhaps me as the "Captain" of my boat want to be last man down the "hatch", this being the case it would take at least 5-10 seconds for the 4 men on the bridge to get below followed by me which is another 2 seconds (im in good shape for being 39). So, that is 7 seconds from the time I order a Dive on some type, not the nanosecond responce time I get now.

What line in the code do I need to edit.

Thanks,

Simsurfer

True; sorry if we seemed 'preachy'. I'm afraid I've no idea what or where that can be changed (or even if it is at all possible to change). Hopefully someone will be able to get you an answer.

Definitely not my area of expertise, but you could try this:

Go into the data\submarine\ folder. There you will find one folder for each sub type. Go into the NSS_Uboat7b\ folder, open NSS_Uboat7b.cfg, and change this line:

SurfaceDepth=8;meters

Make it, say, 10 instead of 8. Then run SH3 and test it in a Naval Academy mission.

I don't know if it'll work. Even if it does, it'll have other adverse effects (you'll be able to run with decks very awash). But, if you want it bad enough...

Assuming it works, you'll need to go into all the other submarine folders and make the same change.

I think a worse flaw is the fact that you go directly to the control room, rather than through the conning tower. When you hit a dive key you should go to the tower...after a few seconds.

I agree it's a problem, but I don't think it can be changed; I'm pretty sure it's part of the dive routine.

Why edit dive time while enemy planes in game usually traveling in speed of F-16? If I had to edit dive time, I would need to tune down every planes to slower speeds. Does the ladder between command room and bridge goes through conning tower while bridge watchers can hand on to the ladder and jump straight down to command room like firemen use firepole?

Maybe. I hadn't thought of that. Probably correct.

Only problem with that is that at least one of them would have to stop in the conning tower in order to close and dog the hatch leading up to the watch tower.

Unless the positions are source hard-coded, I'd think that, somewhere, it could be changed that diving pops open the conning tower view instead of the command roon view.

Didn't the watch crew slide through the ladder all the way down to the Control Room?:hmm:

That's what harzfeld asked; and, as Albrecht Von Hesse pointed out, someone had to dog the conning tower hatch.

I don't think this will work for what is being asked. Being decks awash has no impact on there being a delay between ordering a dive and being dumped into the Zentralle.

I don't know where you'd begin to look for that and in fact I doubt it is something you'll be able to edit anyway unless there is a parameter for the delay. My guess is that it's part of the hard coded dive routine and probably only possible to edit by opening up the source code and messing with stuff you're not allowed to mess with.
