Default 2.0 Sea textures question

I keep seeing this efect the sea surface in 2.0. I'm not sure if this is caused by GWX 2.0, my AGP card or the drivers. I can't recall it being there so much in 1.03, but having changed my AGP card with the release of 2.0 I'm not sure of the cause.

Sapphire X1650 Pro,
Omega v3.8.291
AMD 64 1620 LE
X2 1Gb DDRII 800

(Game profile for SHIII/GWX : AA6, AF4, texture preference-high quality, mipmap detail level-high quality, v-sync-application preference)

GWX 2.0 does add new textures to the waves which were not there in 1.03.

Can't think where they got that idea from. :hmm:

Or... are you referring to the square-ish reflections?

If this is indeed what you were referring to, it was just the same in stock SH3. Just an unfortunate effect of the lighting on the waves when the sun is low in the sky and you're looking towards it.

Try looking in the opposite direction maybe? (Yes, I always offer the best advice! )

Yes, sorry I should have been specific. They have always been there depending on the sea state, I just can't remember them being as prominent. If still had my old X800 XT I would be easyer to tell, but that stopped working.

I think it varies a lot depending on time of day, time of year, sea state, which ocean you're in, etc. Once in a while I get it as bad as that screeny you posted. BTW I have an X800 XT right now, but I'm not sure that has much to do with it. :hmm:

The blocky reflections used to be less noticable in NYGM 2.5-6 since the sun`s highlight on the water was adjusted to be smaller so it didnt highlight the low poly nature of the ocean.

GWX2 goes back to stock shIII settings and has a wide sun highlight on the water surface, i guess if you could find out how it was changed in nygm you could tweak the gwx files.
