Default Lifeboats

ubisoft said no to these cause they thought it was morally incorrect... i say the fact that they siad no is morally incorrect... better there be survivors then none at all! someone make lifeboats!

To tell you the truth I have no idea. I've never used this mod. I have the feeling though that it's changing Cfgs and dat files and therefore there is a potential for breaking stuff in GWX. I think the best person to ask is the mod's developer.

If players really want life boats the modders should check to see how they work in SH4. Being the game files are so close in comparison getting the life boats to appear just might work. :hmm:

Not quite, although the data file structure is very similar, there are tons of controllers in the exe files of sh4 that aren't in sh3, for example the air tprpedo controller, or the unified render controller.

so how do these lifeboats work? when you torp a boat do you see the crew scamper across the boat jumping into the water onto the lifeboats?

In SH4, when you torpedo a ship lifeboats and liferafts with crew aboard simply appear around the point where the vessel goes down. You don't see any "action" on board the ship such as manning, or lowering the the boats. They simply appear.

Before the patch(es) they all used to appear as targets on the Nav Map, but no longer ( thank goodness ) and, for the more sadistically inclined amongst us, they can be destroyed by gunfire.

Probably not but I am not sure as I've never used the mod myself. I would suggest you either try it and see for yourself or contact the mod's creator.

AFAIK been tried didnt work

Something to do with waypoints speeds and how a lifeboat sits in the ocean

Dont think anyone resolved these issues could be wrong

Diving Duck I think had made some photo shop drawings but lost track after that when he was workin on his debris mod...

:hmm:

quite a few have tried this. i think the main issue was how to actually go about implementing it. someone made some lifeboat units and i made people float up instead of the boxes when a ship goes down.
the best thing so far is racerboy's explosion with crew (part of sh4 fx for sh3). it makes people fly off of the ship as it explodes and then stay in the water for some time.
as far as i know no-one has made fully fledged sh4 style lifeboats
heres my survivors http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...ight=survivors
do a search for racerboys work its quite popular
cheers
