At some point during a patrol the diving planes stop rigging out. Does this happen to anyone else? I use ROW and mention this only in case someone questions which mods are installed.......In reporting this it should be noted that performance does not seem to be affected and is merely a cosmedic "eye candy " situation.
BTW...I searched the forum to see if this was a previous topic but no joy. |

I remember a post about that, it said that it comes from saving the while submerged. I had the same problem and since then I dont save my campaign while submerged , I have not had that problem since.

I think it also happens when you dive/ascend while in time compression, so, the lesson is, don't do it!

While we're on the subject of the planes, it drives me nuts that when diving (or surfacing) the planes go to dive (or surface) angles and hold them even after you've reached an appropriate dive angle and only recenter when levelling off! In reality they only moved off center when changing the angle of dive or surface...
Is there a way to fix this??? |

I'm not sure that's true. I think you're assuming the dive angle and bubble angle are exactly the same. The flight analog would be flight path vector and angle of attack.... not necessarily the same in either case.

What is the difference between dive angle and bubble angle?
Anyways, my point is that the planes go to down angles to achieve an angle of dive and once you have attained that angle (angle of the boat remains constant) then the planes should return to zero or nearly zero in order to maintain that angle then they go to up angles to level the boat off. In-game, however, the planes stay at maximum down angles until the boat levels off at desired depth, at which point they zero. If the planes actually stayed in this position you would be doing loop-de-loops underwater... |

He's right.
THis was one of the lessons learned when manual dive plane control was added to SH2. People were keeping the planes in the full dive position until they reached the depth they were looking for then returning them to 0 degrees thinking that would level them off. We got a lotta complaints about that one until people figured it out... JCC Last edited by John Channing; 12-27-07 at 12:35 PM. |

They also did the same thing trying to get to periscope depth quickly for a snap shot. A nice thing for me when I was the destroyer and they broached.
