Another negative about using your deck gun is that you are definately DETECTED, which has long term effects on your relationship with aircraft. -snestorm

hell no...

man look at the lovely Type 36 with them big arse guns on the nose...
call me a punk...,
but would it no be interesting to take a german DD and escort a homecoming Raider all the way thru Biskaya and to Lorient? Flakbattles with the RAF and all?

or one of these FLOTTENBEGLEITER tincans to help the BBs from Brest to Wilhelmshafen?

What about minelaying operations in the Deutsche Bucht with a rebuilt/modified civilian ship?

or being a Sperrbrecher and being hit by mines to protect the Bismark?

Hell there is more to naval Warfare than being a grey Wolf.

Same thing for being a Brit or a *murican...or battlingFW 200 Condors HE177*s and Dornier Do217 on board of my Dido light Cruiser ?

tell me this thought has never crossed yout mind!

or BEING that german Merchant raider and sailing to japan...

what? hater? me?

Jeesus i offer a different point of View, that is all...

Time has come for a new Destroyer game:hmm: methinks

i remember back when i managed to download and install the playable bismark mod... point those big guns at any merchant and it was a one shot one kill affair.

too bad removing it required a complete uninstall of the game files.

in hind sight, going through the trouble of getting the mod to work was not worth the short time i tinkered with it.

This game is called "Silent Hunter" for a reason...but then there is that Uberboot mod that practically transforms your sub into a walking on water behemoth capable of launching nuclear bombs....err, at least taking out really big DDs on the surface!

It was tried as a 'play the other-side' game with SH2, and it was called Destroyer Command. It was launched to be an on-line multiplay to face-off against the U-Boaters of SH2.

All I heard of it was it had failed horribly with it's first release, lacked serious promotion, and then faced a lack of support to clean it up from dozens of interface bugs, etc. I never bought into that one, and it seems, it was not worth it at that time.

you guys forget one thing though....

end every one of the sentences in the first few posts with "...and then you sink yourself."
what fun is it if you sink all the destroyers anyways? i think it would be kinda funny, suddenly being torped and seeing myself surfacing nearby:rotfl:

I actually did that tonight. I went to external view and then watched as my torpedo hit the boat that I was and then as i surfaced...it was kind of scary to see a sub rise up out of the water at 0 knots...there is very little surface disruption.
