Default Patch 1.04 NVIDIA issue? (Resolved)

Hi.

Just started to test 1.04. I always run at graphics settings ="High" and it works wonderful with 1.03 until now with 1.04.:hmm:

I have a NVIDIA 8800 GTX card, 4 gig ram and a Dell XPS710 with a quad 2.66 proc.

What I get is something that looks like golden St. Elmos Fire during dark hours..?

It follows the sides of the boat and when decks awash it looks as if the water turns in to molten metal....

Other things like dignhys and life boats show the same thing. The water inside shines like gold. (plus slime green like below )

Anyone seen this?

I run with basic "High" graphics on a clean SHIV1.04.

Regards

/Per

I have this also on my 8800 Ultra, apparently no one from the devteam in Romania has a GeForce 8800 series card so that the patch could have to be tested on it or rather the patch was not tested at all ...would not realy surprised me with this Ubisoft product line

That's a side-effect of the increasing of opacity near intersections of water edge and other 3D objects in the scene to get a pseudo-antialiasing effect.

It can be hotfixed with using waterTranspPS.fx shader from v1.3. The difference in visuals to the new shader is negligible if you ask me

Default Same here

I get the same thing with my Nvidia 7800 AGP. I just chalk it up to phosphoresence and bash on, LOL.

Here's the water shader from 1.3.

BTW FF, I have a clean install of 1.3 backed up. I'd thought, who knows- might need it to fix something in 1.4 Guess I wasn't being paranoid after all.

are u guys havin this problem all the time. i was playin using the TM mod and this problem started when i entered a port, the sea at nighttime would glow on and off constantly. im now playin RFB and its not hapnin anymore. dunno if this is coincedance or somethin that TM did.

if all u guys are havin this issue as well, without any mods then maybe its a more widespread problem.

i have a geeforce 8800 card as well

It's a feature ("Improvements to Water rendering" in the readme), to mimic the foam that forms near objects' surface when floating in the water.

A wise Ubisoft Silent Hunter customer have always a fallback installation of a prior version on the hard drive.
