Remove ALL mods or better, make a fresh install of SHIV patched to 1.04.

From here you install TM1.7 and test from there. Many older additional mods can screw up your install completely. See the compatibility threads further up.

Cheers

I have a similar problem. Sometimes when i take damage my crew looks like they have "oil" smeared on them.

I tried a clean install and same problem. (To test I loaded up the ambush mission and just drove at the Japanese TF at flank; doesn't happen every time and usually when it's the first "hit"). I don't believe this is a mod issue, but could be a software/video driver/ or AA/AF setting issue.

I have to do some more testing and might try a different driver for my video card (8800GTX).

There are so many variables at work here, it's mind boggleing.

First is how is the base game? Did you remove all mods? Was the base install still intact, or was it screwed up by user modfication efforts (I make boo boos too, so i know this happens). The only way to completely remove this variable, uninstall SH4 completely, remove the residual directory if any, cleanly install it, and apply patch.

Then theres video card and system issues. Is it something particualr to your computer? People don't like hearing this. But, hey you know, its the truth. Got soemthign funky running in the background? Drivers way out of date? Maybe you installed a new driver that is too new and has some new bug? (it happends)

Then theres mod issues, not pertaining to TM, but mods people are running in concert with TM. I have no control over any reaction you get if you mix and match mods. Yes, i do that all the time, but if something bugs out - thats totally out of the mod authors control.

And despite all that, theres still the posiblity that there is a few bugs in patch 1.4. ALot of people will not play the game very much unmodded (i know i can't), so im sure quite a few people waited for the mod to be released before playing. How now, if theres any bugs in patch 1.4, because they werent encountered before, its the mod that gets the blame.

Ive been like a dog chasing his own tail the last two days trying to find this horribly massive rendering/stuttering/ whatever issue - and the truth is, i can't. I can't reproduce it. I havent seen it, i have only a vauge idea of what people are talking about. In short, i give up.

This seems to be "the blinking problem", which is discussed in more detail in the TM 1.7 thread in SH4 mods forum. The cause and the solution are both there. Do you have an ATI card, silent killer?
