Default ship names in recog. manual

Hi,

Anyone knows where i can change the ship names which are shown in the recognition manual?
I would like to change the names of the merchants into their japanese names (which end on "... Maru")

I searched the entire SH4-directory but can not find them, so i guess it isn't text which is shown, but an image. (otherwise windows could find the text inside the files, i searched for "composite" and "freighter" but nothing is found...)

Regards,
fvd

I believe it's in: "Silent Hunter 4/Data/Roster/Names.cfg"

You can open that .cfg file with notepad, wordpad, word or any text editor

It works great, the only downside to it is that the US merchants are now also called Maru.

This is a shot from my game..

I know WernerSobe is working on ONI manual..

If more people want this, I can make a JGSME mod of it for now.
Just untill something better pops up.

Default thanks

Hi guy's,

Thanks for your help.
I made some changes in the textfile.
I admit it would be much better if only the japanese freighters would be identified as "Maru" and not the American ships for example.

But i think these japanese names make the "feeling" of the game more realistic and genuine, isn't it?

Best regards,
fvd

I agree, a much more realistic feeling..
I just released my Maru rec manual.

There are now only 2 ships that are used for all countries.
Taihosan and Kasigan Maru. The rest is, or Japanese or US.

Default yes

FooFighters,

Yes, i've already seen your mod
I compared it with mine, they were almost the same.
Installed yours though

O yeah; think you made one typing mistake:
KSS=Kagisan Maru (should'nt this be: KSS=Kasagisan Maru)???

Regards,
fvd

PS: you would'nt happen to kno wthe location of the file which contains the other ship data like spee, mast height etc.?
I would like to add the length of the ship, perhaps right under or above the speed of the ship.
At that position is some room to add this info.

I agree on the Kasagisan spelling, only I cannot find the mistake.
Maybe I corrected already ?

About the length, speed etc.. try Ducimus. I think he knows.

I found those values in the ship's .cfg files.
For example:
\SilentHunter 4\Data\Sea\NKLSS_Hakusika\NKLSS_Hakusika.cfg

[Unit]
ClassName=KLSSHakusika
3DModelFileName=data/Sea/NKLSS_Hakusika/NKLSS_Hakusika
UnitType=102
MaxSpeed=12
Length=135.6
Width=17.7
Mast=29.5
Draft=8.7
Displacement=8150
DisplacementVariation=700
RenownAwarded=250
CrewComplement=40
SurvivalRate=80
SurvivalPercentage=45

But I don't know if these values are used for the Rec-manual.

Default other one

Hi WilhelmTell,

No, i think it's another file which shows this ship data in the recog. manual.
Not 100% sure though...

Thanks,
fvd

Default FooFighters

FooFighters,

It's the second line in the Maru (freighters) section, just below al the warships.
Maybe you corrected it in your own version?

Greetings,
fvd
