Meh... the UBI forums are a wreched hive of immature naysayers simply put. I put very little stock in anything over there.

As was said over there the modders and people whom work on this game post there out of curtosy.

As to "Stevens" being on the watch Im sure thats a mere coincidence :hmm:

Do we have to call or can there be a patch 1.4 suggestions thread here?
I guess it's the Ubisoft phone number on the back of the instructions booklet? I dont know the number.
Thanks, this is some sweet news.

Edit: I see there is a thread for bugs and fixes only, but what about a thread for suggestions?

Starting a conflict was never my intention when I started this thread. I only wished to inform the forum of what I thought was good news.

I am a member of both forums ( I'm dgrayson over there) and enjoy participating in both. If a couple of folks at the UBI forum got ugly, I apologize for their rudeness. This forum is the more professional of the two IMHO, but the UBI forum gets a lot of newbies, mostly because they don't know where else to go. You have to admit that you need to be more than a little bit knowledgeable, to participate here. UBI forum is very gentle and forgiving of newbie questions like "What is a MOD?" and is a little less "serious" than SUBSIM. The enemy is the IJN, not the other forum.

There are a few, make that very few, hot heads in both forums. Please don't let those few create a conflict where none should exist. Please stop the personal attacks and let us enjoy each others company. After all, isn't the game really about having fun.

Man this feels a lot like when SH4 first came out, or when patches, possible patches are announced, crap overload. Hopefully things will calm down a bit, sooner than later.

I think 1.4 is required so they can flip that switch back on that has been allowing us to play without the disks... :rotfl:

I'd say the thread title is a misnomer until there is actually some official confirmation beyond rumblings from tech support and a couple vocal users.

On a side note, the commentary that follows on that thread (including an odd attack aimed at SubSim?) seems to call into question the quality of the folks who are posting over there in general... I'm not really sure what to make of it at this point.

Think this going to be a case of 'don't believe it until you see it'.

Florida Sailor,

I respectfully beg to differ with your assessment and subsequent descriptions of the two forums. Over on the more "laid back" forum, I was permanently, and without any warning whatsoever banned, after I met sarcasm with sarcasm. Not a cursing, abusive rant mind you, just a bit of witty "fight fire with fire". "a little less serious than subsim", not from my perspective!

"If a couple of folks at the UBI forum got ugly, I apologize for their rudeness."

Apology accepted. No doubt it's as close to an apology as I'll ever get for the treatment I received over there.

I'll stay here (in spite of all the dual memberships between UBI and Subsim), since there doesn't seem to be any forgiveness or second chances on the UBI forums. You are either "in" or you're "out", state your case with too much fervor from the wrong side of the equation and "bye-bye". Cripe, if they held everyone over there to the same standard they held me, they'd be handing out permanent bans like candy right now. The double standard over there disgusts me.

Like I posted before, if there is a new patch I'm in the bonus! The game is just fine with patch 1.3. To me, 1.4 is not a patch but a bonus pack of new material! But hey, that is just me.

Skyhawk, I would like to apologize personally to you directly for any ill treatment you experienced from the UBI forum.

I hold sarcasm as the highest form of humor and am a member of the National Sarcasm Society. Our motto is "Yeah, like we need your support":rotfl:

Krazyfrenchman asked me to post the following. I am honoring his request, unedited, in the spirit of congeniality and cooperation.

From krazyfrenchman:

You should seriously go visit the Complementary Bug Report thread on the official SH4 forum at this link: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6421019045/m/5721054265 before writing comments that do not take into consideration the amount of important fixes needing the DEVTeam's attention. And since the call-in initiative thread on this forum was closed by TDK1044 without having read it carefully, well it seems that all the while you discuss, at least I'll do along with all those who want to participate with me, what needs to be done to raise people awareness on their wishing to be heard and included in discussion with Ubisoft SH4 Development Team.

I can only think of the moding community, ouch here we go again. Of course I think its great the way it is but hey if they want to ad or fix more cool. Now Leo of course LIVES TO MOD and MODS TO LIVE so I’m sure he’ll be up late many more nights after the fact.

It was read very carefully and I'd close it again in a heartbeat.

This is all just bizarre to me...

In this thread I seem to have stumbled upon:

1) announcement of maybe a patch
2) forum war
3) apparently the authoritative 1.4 patch features request thread (darn I guess I missed out)
4) a number of strange characters with issues
5) a call to arms that reads like a gas station embargo chain letter (and probably had about the same economic impact)
6) jilted and/or banned users
7) locked threads
8) clandestine Ubisoft customer support case files (I knew they were watching us )
9) the official spokesperson of some French guy
