Default basic.cfg in SH4?

I did a little tweaking in SH3 myself and for changing equipement and/or availability of the different submarines you had to change the basic.cfg file in the \data\cfg folder.

Searching through the game files of SH4 I stumbled over the same files in SH4 with the "original" SH3 content.
Are they still in use or what do they do in the SH4 \data\cfg folder?

Is there a file like this in SH4 too?

I just want to do a bit of tweaking for SH4 and I started with the minitweaking-utility but haven't found out anything about equipment or availability dates.

Thanks in advance and just dive safe mates!

Welcome aboard, Shadowhunter.

The vast bulk of SH4 is, I suppose, a heavily modded SH3. Some of the SH3 files have been changed / rewritten etc, but the basic structure is almost identical between the two. SH3 worked, so the devs had no need to start from scratch and adapted what they had in SH3 for the "new" game. It's just like Medieval 2 Total War, which, if you look into the files and folders, is actually Rome Total War with a few extras.

Thanks for the welcome!

Do you know in which file the basic ship equipment is located?
I searched around with a hex-editor as well as with the tools in the modding-pack from here, but didn't find a clue.

Any help is appreciated.

I think basic.cfg is not used.

By ship eqp, you mean guns and radars?
