Default Crew management

It's me again.. I'm a slightly cofused about promoting members of the crew. Promotion - it's easy 'cause computer indicates who should receive it. When it comes to medals, well I don't know who and why should I give the nobilitation. How you deal with it? Is it important or not so much. Second thing. What abilities should have members of for instance Conning Tower or Control Room. Torpedo Room is quite obvious - they need to have "guns" ability at as highest as possible level (as I recon). Thanks a lot!

I got his from somewhere on the SH4 forum, forgot where but I wrote it down in my logbook.

For the optimal crew member for the possition he should have high stats in the following per possition:

Torpedo/Deckgun/AA - Mech/Gun
Engine - Mech/Elec
Command - Mech/Elec/Watch
Sensor - Elec/Watch
Damage - Mech/Elec/Gun

-Officers in Command room give a + to the entire boat.
-Leader slots give a + to the compartment.
-Damage control tends to favor engine specialty qualification.

Example - If you put someone in deckgun who has over 100 in Mechanical and Electrical you will see him nearly fill up the entire bar solo.

Medals are for S&G. They don't really do anything noteworthy. Most people just give them out to whomever deserve them the most. If I was in a deck gun battle or shot down any airplanes I will give purple hearts to my deckgun or AA crews. If a watch member spots a juicy target we later sink I may give the commander on duty at the time the siler/bronze star. Torpedo room guys usually get some loving too if we have a very successfull tour.

My Torpedo rooms often get the most injuries so they all have purple harts. My Gun Crews have both Metals of Valor and Purple hearts. Patrol stars and Metals of Valor go to the Officers and Chief Petty Officers. I really need to updated it to the Real Metals.

Are you quite sure the torpedo men need the 'guns' ability?
