Locked out of my own stuff!
***PROB SOLVED***
today i installed a new HD in my pc and installed XP on it.after that that i set my old HD as a slave to pass my files over to the new HD. after wiping it out and only leaving the documents folder it began.... the prob is that since i was the admin. my files on the my documents folder on old drive are locked! i keep getting the accsess denyed popup ![]() Last edited by I-25; 09-04-07 at 09:36 PM. |

Seems like you fixed it yourself, but I have to say - Linux is your friend. It does not care about NT protections of administration - it happily allows access to any of your files.
Suggestion - always keep a bootable Knoppix CD by your side. It will save you in harsh times. http://www.knoppix.org/ -S |

click on the "security" tab click on the "Advanced" button click on "effective permissions" tab add your user name on the new HD to "effective permissions" (give yourself full control and take ownership!) make sure to check the box that says replace permissions on child objects. hope this helps |
