I expect this is impossible, but....
Is there any way to make your hydrophones work if you are on the surface at "all stop" but not if surfaced unser any other condition? Would enable lying-to on the surface at a likely contact point without using fuel. Even at "all stop" on the surface you use fuel at present, which is annoying. I get around this presently by being stationary at 80', but it's unrealistic to be able to hover like that. Anyway, thought I'd ask. Cheers all! |

and now can use the underwater sensors on the surface so what is the problem?

I was experimenting with hydrophones being dampered by speed, but was unsucessful.
>>and now can use the underwater sensors on the surface so what is the problem? Personally i think they work a little too well on the surface, and hydrophone contacts disrupts radar use. |

How to "switch off" hydrophones on the surface?

Not sure what is real... if they must or must not to work on surface. But if you change the maxsensorheight, to fit between the periscope depth and surface depth... ( + - betwen -15 and -5, may be a -10 value) the sensor... theoretically must not to works on surface, and still working at peri depth. Be ware of not set a value under the peri depth, (in example -18, -20) or you will losse it at periscope depth too. I use the stock values because i do not know if it is real or not, they must works or not at surface... :hmm: Any way... as Ducimus wrote, it is anoying you loss the radar representation when start up to works the hydrophones at surface. |

But if you change the maxsensorheight...
Where is that maxsensorheight? |

Perhaps some modders can make 2 hydrophone sensors, one that works between surfaced and PD and one that works better PD and below? I'm not sure how you'd switch between them but you could theoretically get depth-related performance by just having several sensors with non-overlapping perameters of use.
Also a "Sweep/No Sweep" and "On/Off" switch for the Hydrophones like the Radar would be a godsend. |

in heavy sea's and bad weather but they never set up the radar to react to it
then having those sensor balls would be a god send to Submarine's so they would normaly be turned on in bad weather. All that is needed is an on off switch added for them. But I am not sure how you would even go about it. I think Captain Cox could design a Hud Switch for it now you just need someone to make the switch work and then set it up for those paticular sensors. another words you need several moders with differn't skills to perform the correct task needed to fix the problem. |

But i made the chnages and game non sense... plus the Hydrophone 3, is not an hydrophone, it works as surface radar :hmm: |

I thought that the Hydrophones were a passive listening device situated on the fore-deck of the sub and ,as they would be out of the water, would not work when surfaced.
The two balls beneath the sub were more like active sonar, ie they sent out a signal and listened for the echo, and were primarily used for rangefinding. Not sure about real life, but in SH4 there is is no way of directing the signal with-out using the Hydrophones. Please correct me if I've got it wrong. |

The "T" mount sure not... but the two "balls" under the hull... if they are pasive device, they must works in any way, they still submerged when at surface... :hmm::hmm::hmm: Really i dont know... But the strange thing i found, is the Hydrophone 3, have settings as a radar.... and if i change them to hyfrophone settings... you loss the surface contact radar... It is listed as Hydrophone... but really it s a radar... Not sure if it is an adress problem of the minitweaker template file i am using.... :hmm::hmm::hmm: |
