Default torpedo infomation help

fellow skippers
this being my first post i have to say a big thanks to all who have posted as it has come of great help on SH4
my question is this in SH3 the torpedos told you what you were getting IE guided/steam/electric i cant find this on SH4 so dont know what torps to load in dock also has any one any depth settings for keel breakers on ships

when loading torps hold your cursor on the torpedo and you get some info

when looking through your periscope check the buttons along the bottom, 1 of them will pull out a recognition manual, it has keel depths, tonnage etc there

The basic torpedoes earlier in the game are the Mark 14 and the smaller Mark 10. Both were steam driven, which means nice wakes/trails of bubbles on the surface leading right back to the firing position.

The Mark 10 has a range of about 3,000 metres and a single speed.

The Mark 14 has two speeds ( low and medium ) and so two different ranges from around 4,000 to 7,000 m.

To use the Identification Manual you must be in Persicope view and have the ship visible in the 'scope. Click on the Identification Manual and it will appear. In 1.3 it defaults to Japanese Naval Vessels. If you want to identify merchant shipping, click on the arrow to the right of "Japanese" on the front cover of the manual; then, once it has changed to "Merchants" click on the manual to open it.

It gives you keel depths etc.

If you're not sure which ship you're looking at, just click on the Nav Map icon and then on the symbol on the map which represents the target ship. It will tell you what kind of ship it is.

It's not sure, but the game may include an eleent of deep-running ( a notorious fault with U.S. WW II torpedoes ) I've found it always best to set at 1 foot above keel deoth. Setting below - especially in anything other than totally calm seas - can cause the torpedo to run underneath the tarfet without detonating.
