Well, no, im not working, but i would like to see subs.

1) I read in a thread, i dont remember which one, that you can place a sub like a member of an enemy convoy, and when the convoy 'is loaded in the memory' the sub start attack, but, the spacing beetwen the sub and the convoy is nothing. When you see the convoy its too late, i dont know how to make a space beetwen the convoy and the sub.
In theory, i think one way to do it is placing a 'sub convoy' with the same data as the true convoy but spaced a little (10-20 km ahead for example), then when the 2 convoys are loaded in memory the subs start attacking, but i dont know if the game can load 2 convoys or only one at the same time... and if the subs will 'see the convoy' and attack.
So,
To test i need to know:
- How i name a sub in the file?***
- Anyone knows if the game can load two convoys at the same time or a convoy and a single ship?*** i dont remember.

2) Placing subs in the patrols file. I have no knowledge if the game accept that. But to test is simple, just replace all destroyers with subs and 100% report prob. then go gibraltar or something to see subs instead dd's. :hmm:
If is possible to add subs to the patrol file, i think you can place them near the convoys. But the subs will attack?, if yes when?
To answer those questions i need to know:
- How i name a sub in the file?***

If i can place a sub... I believe wolfpacks are possible!

If you or someone knows those*** things, tell me and i begin testings .

-------------------------

God bless.

you have the right to choose how you want to play it and so do he

well then let him FFS
if he wants to have more contacts then let him, if he wants god mode LET HIM!!
he plays the game the way he wants
I totally agree morts.. Contact, if he wants more action, let him! Everyone can do whatever they want to, as long is it legal. And is it really unlegal to cheat in Singleplayer on a computergame? Is it really? Is it unlegal to creat a action packed map? IS IT?!

No!
Contact, think before talk. Otherwise, someone will give you a very nice contact.

I think the only contact of interest on this forum is a hydrophone contact

That is the type of contact you meant, wasn't it ? :hmm:

@Morts
You post with the benefit of my conversation with you on TS moments ago

You are aware Contact also frequents TS.....You are both equally welcome and valued on the server.
Anything or nothing or whatever it might have been ends here

Whatever, u can have your freedom and all the ocean full of merchants. But I prefer mods which increases realism and this one totaly contradicts with the comprehension of mine about it.

Under no circumstances should self respectfull captain use this mod in GWX. Since I believe GWX is modded the right way of quantity of aaaall ships in the waters

why it is so big need to change the history by making more or less contacts ? I simply don't get it.

that's all.

Guess I'll better get back to my MT studies instead of wasting precious time arguing about gameplay ideology

Good fairly hunting Kaleuns!

I will say my opinion, well, i can search and search AND search, with success, if you like that, a 7 hours patrol of your time good, but what if a little work of the searching is giving to you by some more contacts, you 'simulate that you was searching but is a lie, the true was that there was a contact', with imagination old gamers played the old games. And is more fun, and not far from reality, in the other hand, i hate making waypoints for example, i would like the navigation guy see venus or something, and wolfpacks, and returning home see my house and walk around the port and city... and i would like seeing all real very real, BUT i can let the machine do some search for me (with a little imagination) for the sake of FUN. By the way you read the article from EA guy...

the one which says games getting boring ? hehe
it depends what kind of game u're choosing.
simply u're have to prepare yourself for simulations like GWX.
For long hours of inactivity and clear horizon for weeks maybe..
But in the end with a bit of luck u will be honored spoting a single ship or convoy.
Just be good to your watch crew officer, give him the first iron cross u'll get and his effectivness in spotting will increase noticeably.
Check map and plot your course through enemy traffic lanes and u will find some action for sure.

Personaly, patience and stubbornness is my formula of luck

Contact, i like what you say. But i cant do it, too much time takes the patrols, its a shame, i like patience and that, but i cant spend it in the game. I prefer using it in more important things. I balance effort and reward and i dont get enough from the game.

Understood. I'm now closing this topic, since I already said what I wanted.

I would like to do crazy math:

40,000 people served un subs, 30,000 never returned
In the whole war was around 800 subs?
40,000 / 800 = 50 people per sub OK
30,000 people / 50 = 600 subs OK
600 / 5 years / 12 months = 10 subs per month destroyed
10 subs are 75% of subs in patrol.
13,3 subs are 100% of subs in patrol per month.
More than 30,000 allied seaman were lost by u-boat attacks
And 20,000,000 tons of ships
If the average tonnage of the ships was i dont know 4,000 then
Like 5000 ships sunked??
5000 / 5 / 12 = 83 ships sunked by 13 subs per month???
8 ships per sub/month?? The wolfpack thing??
Why so many sub killed?? Around 8 ships per sub... Escorted convoys maybe???

So, how many convoy contacts / month, plus air and other sea units
reports??

I feel that 3 to even 6 convoys contacts /months are ok.

-------------------------
I dont like war history and math, just horrible.
