Hi, I had to give it away, there were too many issues I couldn't resolve, one being the sky changes black if I change data even 1 point in either direction! another was viewed from high up the visual area appears as a square area, I'm 99% sure that it will never work higher than 8k! What I do is use the 8k version with better sensors that detect to 16k! If you haven't been around this version has come a long way:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...ighlight=Reece
Take note that there are no issues with fog, moon reflection fixed, sky vortex fixed & sunrise/set glare has been fixed!
Cheers.

Reece,
These better sensors mean that you as human player are able to see the ships at more than 8 km, or they are detected, reported and you start seeing them only at 8k?
I must confess that after my own failed attempts at a 16k version, I completely abandoned the idea and reverted to the plain old GWX 16k.

Yes this was dealt in part with Rubinis Stay Alert crew mod as well as Der Teddy Bars 40% visability mod (part of NYGM TW mod), never released seperately only on my request! You can download here:
http://files.filefront.com/Redwine++.../fileinfo.html
This file also has mods to quiet down the DD's, (Redwine) if you wish to disable this part the delete the file AI_Sensors.dat before enabling mod.
Note: Read the info in the Documentation folder for complete details of each part.
Cheers.

May be the problem is that some of the SH4 files are still missing:hmm:

In SH4 there is no problem at all with moving the horizon as far as you like (Albeit problems with earth curvature appear, i.e. no hull-down ships if too far away).

If we could find the way to port the full SH4 combo to SH3 we could come up with a 12k visibility mod, which would be according to most modders spot on for best sensors balance (No vampire eyes crew and such)

as i recognized, there are always material codes in the tweakfiles. i first saw them in the particle dat. if you find out, which material belongs to the different codes, i guess you nearly have the solution!

regards

I'm 99.9% sure that no files are missing, it's just the way the colors etc are setup plus some hard code in the dat file that are causing the problem, there are no call to other files in SHIV, I spent about 16 hours with pack3d, minitweaker, & hex editor trying all sorts of tests to no avail, still doesn't mean it can't be done, just would be a big job & definitely out of my league!

Once more, Reece, great work on the 8km version! I still wish the water in SHIV was more like it!

Can you give me those material IDs? I'll need to know the file name each material ID came from. I can probably track them down......These are SH4 or SH3 files?

@ Hitman, yes I certainly did, the skycolors especially are not compatable with SHIII, especially the SkyColors_Atl.dat file, it is only 26k in size to the standard size being over a meg!! These files cause the sky to go black as well! another problem of changing the atmosphere higher, even slightly higher (9k), is that it causes there to be no clouds, sun, moon, or stars! it is a shame, but that's life!!
