Good old Pac man has no triangle at all, would be a good option.

Well I tried to use manual targeting, but I found it too much complicated . I'm not a professional submarine commander lol, I'm just a player . What should be great is a combined auto/manual TDC I think, in which we could choose what we want to do or not. But I don't know if it's possible to make. Wait and see ...

But I did not post this topic in order to create a debate about auto or manual targeting, I only want to remove this triangle which annoys me because it's in the middle of the view in my periscope !!!!

Emyr, it seems complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it you will not go back, trust me.

Practice a little bit with the different methods to calculate Aob, speed and distance, one at a time. You´ll like it.

I trust you kv29. One day I'll probably pass in manual targeting. But for the moment playing in auto-Tdc gives me enough fun, and that's the only thing I ask to a game lol. The day Auto-TDC won't give me any fun and will look too much easy I'll start to play with manual-TDC. As I said before I'm not a submarine commander and I never pretented to be so, I'm just a player who wants fun. And definitely this triangle is not fun...

I wonder if that darn triangle is in the .ini somewhere like the X-hair for the Deckgun:hmm:

I explored the different folders to find a dds or a tga file but I didn't find anything. I also had a look in the cfg files but they are so numerous that it would be a very long job to find in which the triangle is activated.

Cox, Now I don´t know if the X uses a dds at all. I tracked tons of suspect dds that might be manipulated by the ini to make a crosshair, like bkgr.dds for the binocular. I even exchanged those files with others expecting to hit the jackpot. No luck .

I hate to dig in the .ini as it is so tedious...had almost enough of it trying to sort out that Torpedo Launch Panel I was working (still is but on hold) some time ago. Cause its like, change code, load game :hmm: ....20sec later, no result, unload game, change the code, load the game... (this is not funny now), no result etc etc.

Might have another stab at it in the weekend but :p

I thank you a lot for trying to find an answer to my request ! In other games I often modify files (but almost graphic files I'm not very good in modifying config files ...) so I know how big can be that sort of work.

its just that there seems to have been an "anti triangle"
campaign sometime in the past on sh3 threads (hence the smilie with the
detonator) as I recall they were prone to using the term red triangle.
In fact it goes back to the old SH2 times!

CB, some others & me were at that time obsessed with getting rid of it....was really long ago I feel soooo old when I remember that

Then it came back when SH3 specs started to be announced and screenshots came....lots of discussions started regarding wether or not it should be included and why. Finally the Dev team had gone the perfect route...leave it in auto, erase it in manual. Though it seems not so perfect now, since it doesn't fit everybody:hmm:

Would you insinuate that I am very difficult ??
Well, you're not wrong lol

Another day begins in the crusade against the Red Triangle (isn't it a beautiful sentence ? )

Great idea Kv29 !!
I hope it doesn't exist a committee for the protection of the triangles, they could make me a trial for harassment !
