Maybe this is something that has been mentioned earlier in one of the threads, I couldn't find it.
Suppose you're going for a refit. Both radars are installed. You are getting annoyed by the radar operator, who's calling in friendly contacts, killing your time compression. You then switch radar off. In stead of shutting up he keeps reporting. I can't get him to shut up. In the navy someone would say "cease reporting", but in the sim you can't. These are my installed mods: ![]() I sure hope someone knows what to do. This guy makes me crazy. Thanks Bando |

In the RFB1.27 mod they rebuilt the SD radar so it will detect targets. The problem is that the SD radar cannot be turned off (SH4 problem). When you turn off the radar it only effects the SJ installation. The actual file name is called Sensors_sub_US.sim located in the \data\Library\USSubParts. Removing it from the RFB mod returns it back to the default SH4 radar setup, however, your SD will be useless again. EDIT : And your SJ will be default SH4 which will only detect targets if the sub is heading north between 271-089. Hope that helps. Mraah |

Mraah, realydedpoet, thanks for replying.
What I'll try to do in this case is force the sonar and radar operators (only in friendly waters) to the damage control party. In that scenario there will be no operator at the station. EDIT I've tried that, to no avail. The operators are not on their station in the conning tower, there's nobody there and still they keep reporting contacts of no interest. Guess we'll have to wait for patch 1.3. Last edited by Bando; 06-01-07 at 09:39 AM. |

Nope,
I sailed with decks awash, the diesels still running, it was clear weather, no wind. The radar was off, the conning tower people were in the dam control team, believe it was 30 ft I travelled and still they kept reporting. As I said, maybe (hopefully) patch 1.3 will solve this. Thanks anyway Bando |

I believe this mod changes the radar differently so that the SJ detects both air and surface targets, and can be turned on/off. The SD is disabled, so if SJ is off, all radar contact reports cease. That is my understanding anyway.

hello DS,
I did try Ducimus's mod for an extended period of time. I can't recall any of the annoyance about radar operators. He tried a complete other approach to the problem. For the moment I like the RFB mod, and I don't know enough of tweaking, modding and so on, to merge these two mods. I started a new career and will not install the airsearch radar. Maybe by switching the surface search radar to off in areas of non interesting radar contacts he'll finally shuts up. If not, we'll pray to the devs they'll fix it in 1.3 patch Greetings Bando |

For those who want to know:
I did a new career, did never upgrade the sub with airsearch radar, only surfacesearch. This works good in terms of contact reporting. When contacts of little interest are being reported, all I do is switch the radar off, the operator shuts up. Time comp can be used again and when I'm about 40Nm further, I'll switch the radar on. No fuzz whatsoever from the radar operator. Obviously I do not detect aircraft on radar anymore, that's the drawback from this. I do not mind too much, cause I "dive at dawn" anyway in hostile waters. Regards, Bando |
