Default GWX question regarding ContLine.tga?

I have GWX 1.03 installed.

I am just too used to AOD/SH1 with the red high speed screws sonar contact. So, I restored the ContLine.tga file from the stock SH3 to my GWX install. This restored, the red lines ... very useful for SA among 30 contact lines in the middle of a convoy.

I, also, noticed that this kills the grey icon mod that prevents the player from identifying: allied, enemy, and neutral, since it seems to be used for the icon tail. Any way to get red lines back, but keep the grey contacts? If not, I can live with this. Also, by restoring ContLine.tga will I be breaking anything of great consequence in the mod?

Its been so long since I've spent any time modding that part of GWX... it is tough to answer your question... For now you might search the forum here for alternatives as I know a couple of options have been discussed here recently.

Funny you ask this though... just minutes ago I was looking at the contact lines in game and asking myself the same old questions.

Some SA is reasonable to expect... total/perfect SA is not.:hmm: Some changes may be made to GWX version 1.04 in this area... but I don't want to give the sailor too much info concerning SA.

Real tight-rope there.

(Whenever I can get to play again myself... I'm gonna turn OFF all the contact stuff.)

Well, you can move the ContLine.tga file in from NYGM, then you get very indistinct dashed lines. A convoy becomes just a complete mess of grey dashes all over the place, but you can at least get the relative bearings of the escorts.

Okay, I now have four flavors of GWX map presentations. For the moment, I am playing with red contact lines and no tails.
