How creative of you

Im sure your backhanded insults will sting UBI to their core.

Its BS like this that will make them think "Why should we bother ?"
Rubbish....if anything, its comments like this that bring down the tone of SubSim community. Ubi don't care what we think unless it brings about negative publicity that may affect their stock value. They certainly wont think "why should we bother" - its not an emotive decision, its purely a question of profits and what they can get away with.

Terrapin, it seems I can't log on at u-boot.realsimulation again or get my password sent to me. The PW I used before isn't working. Send me an email when you get a chance as there is no other way to contact you.

Thanks mate.

And sorry if I'm off subject here.... I'll delete this once I hear from him.

It sure does just as SH3 did. I will tell you, as much as I loved SH3 with the larger mods installed, I like SH4 better with minimally installed mods. Basically all I have is a few textures and the reduced radio traffic mod. If the game is this good for me in the basic vanilla state, it will only get better.

Anyway, SH3 has been completely removed from my computer. I do not have any intentions of loading it up again. To each their own I guess.
Same here, I love SH4. I have figured out how to use the radar, and it is fun. The night attacks in SH4 are way more fun than the ones in SH3, where I was NEVER able to get close to a convoy on the surface.

I like not fighting for a fascist regime, I like getting to use a GATO boat, I like the improved graphics, I miss the radio shack.

SH3 is uninstalled. At some stage I might put it back on, but not anytime soon.

Forgive my ignorance but I don't know who Elanaiba is. Judging by responses I can only guess he has something to do with the product. In which case he deserves more than a thank you. I never intend to trash anyone's hard work. I know what it's like on a different level (Enterprise Storage Array's). I've put up with customer crap as well but poor features/functionality/performance is rarely due to any one persons contribution or lack there of. Customer crap is taken up to mgmt as feedback for improvements. Most of the time it takes a large pile of crap from multiple customers taking a dump in yer office to make a difference but occasionally even a small turd gets visibility. Once in a great while I get passed a little turd and am able to make difference and that feels great. There's difference's in Hardware vs Software, one company's ethics vs anothers but I've never seen a load of crap do anything other than create dialogue for improvements. If we were to throw up our hands and say "screw it, they b!tch too much" we wouldn't be the No.1 provider of storage array solutions across the globe.

Hi bobo

Your opinion is shared by more the a few members. There are a
handful of members that feel a begging cup approach is the
solution. And I'm sure UBI suits are laughing at that. If you look
at it from a business and credibility stand point. It would be afore
mentioned suicide to not at least patch if not somewhat finish.
Time will tell. Besides, alot of members are enjoying it and that is
in no small part by are GREAT MODDER community. .

Bobo, good for you for trying to make a difference. Too bad they're aren't more out there like you to keep the customer happy..... it sure isn't like that at Ubi. It seeming more and more their motto is "take the money and run". And yes, as a paying unsatisfied customer I CAN say that.

Firewall, modders can only improve the looks and feel of the sim, they can't fix what's in the code that's not working as it should. So, a patch is still needed no mater what modders do.

Ubisoft have made horrible jobs on PC games lately, GRAW terrible on PC, great on console, RBV same, SCA same, if it was possible to do SHIV on console it would be the same. Basically they know they can release something unfinished on PC and leave it, saying they'll patch it later. That said we still need to be constructive in the way we ask for patches, or they'll just say sod you then and we'll have nothing and they'll just do console games from now on.

GT182 Your so right on that. I just meant the modders made it more fun to enjoy till UBI gets around to fixing it if ever.

Hunter,
Quite right, have edited my post.

I think that "fighting for a fascist regime" is appro. however. I'm sure you will let me know if you disagree. I fully understand that not all the Kriegsmarine were party members, but that regime was horrific, and I believe that it is slightly disingenious to try and seperate the German armed forces totally from it. That is why, at times, I found it slighty disconcerting to be sinking British and American ships. I mean, the German/Nazi/Fascist was a quite nasty one.

That is one reason that I enjoy SH4 a bit more. I feel more comfortable sinking Japanese ships than I do tommies.

All of this might sound silly, and a bit OT, but even playing these sims, at times I have a hard time seperating the politics from what I am doing.

A bit iof history wouldn't go amiss. The bundesmarine was one of the least "politically" infected services of the german armed forces. Furthermore, the U-Boat crews were even less infected.

I hear about troops in Iraq who do not support the current American regime but still fight for it. I imagine the same could be said for a lot of the U-Boat crews.

I also prefer the Pacific theatre, and am an SH 1 , 2, 3 and 4 player.

I am enjoying SH4 greatly. The coding is not as polished as SH3 yet, but hopefully that will change. None the less, I am enjoying SH4, and I do not support an approach that makes Ubi think the best way to avoid future bad commentary about their subsims is to not make subsims at all.

That said, I do support the development of a 1.3 patch that finishes the code, and I support that objective by offering CONSTRUCTIVE and ENCOURAGING criticism, and by promoting SH4 and encouraging sales so that the profit balance sheets allow for further development. Like any corporation, Ubi will want their product to have a good reputation, if their product sales will support it. If the product is perceived as a failure, and sales tank due to bad publicity, there is no point in them putting more money into an already lost cause.

Frankly, if there is no 1.3, I will walk away convinced that 1.3 was killed by the players ruining the base product's reputation. That would be sad, because I play SH4 every single day, and enjoy it each time.
