Default Ubisoft is owned by EA!!!

Great snakes!!If Ubisoft is owned by EA,we could be in a lot of trouble.A few years ago I was happily flying in a flight sim called Air Warrior.EA had bought the sim from the original owners.Air Warrior had a lot of players that were upset because an upgrade wasn't working as it should. The whining continued, and to make a long story short,EA got rid of Air Warrior. That is how EA handles problems.

Well I don't know about UBI and EA but I'm an old AW pilot myself. I loved the original, then came AWII and it was ok but after that......

What nationality were you? Frog, Smurff or.... (what was red nickname :hmm: ).................

They're not owned by EA. EA has a controlling stake in them, but that doesn't mean they own them.

Long story short, EA doesn't make the business decisions for Ubisoft.

Now that's the first explanation for not bringing a 1.3 patch that i've heard.

Although EA still patch the Battlefield series?

Oh, come on. EA isn't as bad as most people want to make them out to be. They're big and enjoy raking in the cash so they get a lot of stick because of it. They've actually made some really nice games such as the latest NHL-title, the Fight Night series, Battlefield and last but not least; they brought We Love Katamari to our shores when no other western publisher wanted anything to do with it. A brilliant little game.

Yea, I love battlefield.. still... it may have started buggy but they did what a responsible company would do and stuck with it. Something I hope Ubi does.

EA get slammed for being huge, as a lot of companies do, but they have been instrumental in a lot of computing advances. If I recall correctly, this includes a great deal of development work on the TIFF format, which is one of the major formats used in graphics work. Not everything they do is bad.

Beg to disagree.

EA holds a controlling interest (a majority of shares) in UBI. There is a reason it is called a "controlling" interest.

I'm a financial analyst, I know what a "controlling interest" is.

EA currently owns 16% of the outstanding shares, which is more than any other shareholder. That means they can outvote other shareholders on issues, but as far as day to day operations, it's still Ubisoft management and not EA's.

"For its part, EA noted that the purchase does not give it any say in day-to-day operations or overall strategy of the company." - http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20041220-4479.html

To cop a line from Red October

"Ubi wont even take a dump without EA's approval".
