Default 1.3 Poll On Official German SHIV site removed

Yesterday it was there, today it's gone.

Another smart UBI move?

May be they won't release any 1.3 patch. Sure.

Maybe if the community would have been a bit more supportive towards the devs when the game came out they would consider making the 1.3.

Our fault...

OK, feel guilty if you wish, I suppose it is possible.

I will pass.

Partly, yes. Just browse the SHIV forums, what can you see? Hate, petitions, threats to sue them etc. Now, why would they want to work more for a community that only supports them when everything is going smoothly, but as soon as something bad comes up, the community is threatning them?

And like I said when the game was released: Remember, it wasnt the devs that came up with the stupid deadline.

Yeah, you ask people to vote for a patch and so many think its an invitation to go crazy, and act like idiots. All the extreme talk about suing and piece of **** game, how retarded. Even though Silent Hunter 4 is a pretty good game, it should still get more support than a lot of people show.

The internet, where something is either terrifcly wondeful beyond belief or rotten, sick bad and worth killing.

Oh please! If no patch to fix this "game" then the decision will be a simple financial one by some middle manager type in Ubi...it will have nothing to do with anything that has been said, negative or positive, in these or Ubi's forums. Its a simple business decision for the sake of profits and the only thing that will "perhapps" change their mind is if enough negative publicity is brought to bear on them.

Just as an observation; Ubisoft is not going to be impressed with petulent screaming and shouting regarding this issue. Nor will they worry in the slightest about the "I'm never going to buy another Ubisoft product again" group.

These companies know that the loss in sales as a result of that kind of reaction is so minimal as to be of no consequence.

Ubisoft may reconsider patch 1.3, if it can be demonstrated to them that the need for the patch is important to a significant number of SH4 players. The more people who e-mail them, snail mail them and call them, and the more that appears to be random game players and not subsim community members, the more chance for success.

These companies work with metrics, and if they are having to deal with this issue on a daily basis on several different fronts, then it may become financially viable to produce the patch so that their staff are not having to deal with these complaints on a daily basis.

Sorry.
You are confusing cause and effect. 90% of the anger is because the publisher bailed. (nothing to do with devs or bugs, or typical angst that dissipates with patch)

...and "something bad" with being abandoned. Gross understatement. A no more patch statement with the current state of the game is traumatic for many. Without patches, GWX would have probably never seen the light of day because a large part of the community would have bailed on a bad base.

...and support with being sensitive to their feelings. Given time and support from the PUBLISHER, I am sure the devs could have kept improving the game. Patting them on the head instead of pointing out problems would have simply short circuited that process.

Maybe if we had sent little love notes over the year while they were coding, 1.0 would have been better, and we would not have had to hurt any feelig with honest reviews.

It is NOT the consumers fault that the producer delivered inferior product and followed it with inferior support. People were being reasonably tolerant and patient with the inferior product, but when the asinine request for us to beg for further support came out, people got angry.

Even if your comments were closer to the truth than they are, why go there now ? Its rather unsporting all things considered. Last thing we need is friendly fire.

Ok, Ok, point taken. Anyways, you are the guys who's playing the game. Not me, my copy is collecting dust already. I shall keep my mouth shut the next time I get lost in the forum and end up to the SH4 part.

While I agree that the Ubi site has been overrun with children screaming on the grocery store floor there are community members with a more level head. Some threads are down right embarrassing for sure but many are trying to calm things down and work on getting the patch the right way.

That said.......I've got a patrol to finish.
