Yamato BB

I have managed to sink 3 Yamato class BB in my patrols so far but each one has taken 6-9 torps. is there anyone out there that knows how to sink one with less as its annoying firing so many of my precious torps at it.

Cosidering the real Yamato and her sister ship Musashi each took over a dozen torps before sinking,I'd say the Yamato is already on "easy" mode.

If you think that's bad, try Real Float Boat mod. Took me 10 torpedoes to sink a single 7000 ton freighter. Ten direct hits. Yeah.

Real Fleet Boat doesn't have any torpedo or ship damage model tweaks. Anything that happens with torpedoes in RFB will happen in the standard game too.

To answer the question - it can be done if you aim for the same spot - under the lead turrets. First hit will damage - but if you can get the second hit in roughly the same spot - you can fire up the magazines. That toasts the boat.

Read some history here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...hlight=tankers

Quote:
From "Silent Sea" by Harry Homewood:

"We've had reports from submarine Captains who tell us of hitting a tanker with as many as six torpedoes, hitting them in the sides of the hull. Those tankers are so compartmentalized that they can suck up a half-dozen torpedos at or below their waterlines."

Remarks from Admiral Christies staff.
Ok a tad more but you sure they all exploded?
