I have CTDs time to time .. especially with 1.04. But I had some even before. Very rare, impossible to reproduce. I don't think it's LWAMI related.

Oh no. I thought DW was stable. SC, DW predecessor was very very stable running.
It's a pain when the CTD occurs when you're being immersed in the engagement and having some success.

This happens quite frequently to me, exspecaly with the Kilo. It seems to have something to do with a torpedo detonation occuring. Can't seem to track down why this is happening or a way to fix it.

BTW This is happening with V1.03 as I have yet to get V1.04 as I have no internet connection at home...

I wonder if there is any way to get game "schematics" (Like a log of the game engine with errors) saved into, say a notepad file, for viewing. Does anyone know of such a thing? Would that be able to see if it has something to do with torpedoes?

Maybe if you had the source codes .. or if there was some special support for such thing implemented in the game (which I doubt). In general, speaking about common windows EXE there is no such thing. These CTDs are pretty strange anyway, because they do not report any exception. I don't know how to do such thing. All my programs crashes with those 'do you want to report ?' windows or with the debugging suggestion if you have development environment installed.

I'm afraid we community can do hardly anything except for testing and finding when it happens. No new patch is announced anyway, as far as I know.

If you're playing in fullscreen you will never get error messages when the game crashes.
If on the other hand you play in windowed mode, then as the game crashed you'll get an error message with all the relevant info.

Does turning off hyperthreading help to either mitigate or solve the crashes completely? Someone mentioned this before somewhere in this forum.

Yep, turning of HT helps ... an alternative (dont know if thats possible) would be to assign Dw to one of the virtual cpus.

I would suggest you take a look over at the SCS Tech Forum and search for "Hyperthreading" and "Dual Core" ... that should yield some helpful results.

Cheers

Hm .. my crashes happens with dual core. Some people suffer 'time compression bug' with these, but I didn't, so I did not assign DW to single CPU yet. Maybe the crashes dates since my new notebook.

Will try assigning DW to single CPU. I don't play it much these days anyway.

YES!

Turning off HT totally eliminated CTD's with DW for me.

After researching HT and discovering that it provides no performance increase for anything except Adobe stuff I just left it off. Never looked back, can't tell the difference between it being on and it being off.

EDIT: I just installed 1.04 and the CTD's are BACK! even with HT off. And these are major malfunctions that totally shut down the PC. Can't even get to task manager to shut down - have to use the power button and totally shutdown.

Arghgghhghghg!
