Default missing kills

Has anyone figured out why some kills don't appear in your log. I sank two troop transports and a destroyer tonight but only the transports are listed......

Did you save game and reload between when you hit them and when they were reported as "destroyed" (and turn into a sunken ship icon on your map)? In SH3, when you loaded a saved game under those circumstances, when the ship did sink the game seemed to forget that you were responsible for damaging it.

I have only had one missing kill -- an aircraft that I saw go down (it nearly hit my sub) but there was never any "target destroyed" message and nothing was entered into my log. But it was just a stupid plane, I was just happy it didn't succeed in kamikaze-ing me.

Nope, I got all three and left the other three escorts pounding the empty ocean with DC's but only the two troopships showed up on the map and my tonnage list.............

I WAS ROBBED..... I WANNA COMPLAIN TO THE EMPEROR............your damn navy isn't reporting it's losses!!!!!!

It used to be in SH3 you had to personally witness the ships "sink".

If you were submerged when they went down and you did not observe them sinking through the periscope you would not get credit.

If you sailed away while they were floundering and not have "sunk" yet you did not get credit.

If you lost sight of them in bad weather when they went down you did not get credit.

You HAD to have visual conformation.

I have not seen this in SH4 but would not be supprised if it did. It kind of made sense actually.

In shallow waters/harbours i've noticed you have somtimes put another fish or a few deck gun rounds into them to finish them off and get a registered kill even if only the mast is still topside:hmm:

well, for me that makes no sense at all. If we had realistic ship sinking times you'd be dead after every attack. What sub skipper would hang around for 1/2 hour at periscope depth in order to confirm a kill, whatever happened to 'sonar'...........'sounds of ship breaking up sir' ????

I can confirm that your crewman have to see ship sinking in order to confirm a kill.
It doesn't make hit & run tactic easy...

ive gotten confirmed sinkings at 100 meters....i think it depends if your sonarman can keep track of all the stuff around...you know how sometimes you id a bunch of ships and submerge..some of the ones you ided are unknown again and some are still ided when you come back to pd. i think it has something to do with that.?
