Default Miss the "You've been detected, sir"

I kinda missed the "You've been detected, sir" statemen your crew came with when you had been to noisy. Wonder if it would be possible to get it back?

Oh, well!

I'm just the opposite. I'm glad its not in. That one always took away the immersion factor to me.

Im of the school of 'not missing it' too.

Always struck me as kind of strange. "Woah my officers are psychic !"

I don't miss the "We've been detected!" message (like you said, I thought it was too "psychic") but I do kind of miss the noise meter. I'll admit I used it as a sort of crutch, as it's hard to tell just how noisy you are when you're not actually on the sub.

Hmmm. I guess you're right! They shouldn't be psychic!

There was a short lived thread "if you ___ you may be detected"

Some were pretty good like

If a DD suddenly changes course and steams at flank straight at you you may have been detected.

If you hit flank by accident while laying in wait at periscope depth.. you may have been detected.

If you hit S(urface) when you meant to hit D(ive) you may have been detected.

If a merchant suddenly starts lobbing shells in your direction...

Well you get the idea.

I don't know how unrealistic it is actually. I've read where O'Kane, for example, keep a lookout looking at only the DD closest to them as he conned for the shot... if their bearing towards the sub closed to 000 he would announce it.

It could certainly see your sonar operator or whomever noticing that the escort has changed course to head straight for you.

If you're cruising along fat, dumb and happy and suddenly a depth charge goes off right next to you...

So THATS what the observation scope is for !!!

It would be cool if we could have both scopes on screen at the same time.

One to watch the escorts and the other to work the target !

I miss the crew cheer when a torpedo hits, "we're being pinged sir", and "depth charges in the water".

I would like it if it was realistic. There are times when you're busy with other things, but your crew should be perfectly able to understand that you're under attack. For example, if you're setting up the damage control team and thus doesn't see that a destroyer has changed course and is barreling straight at your periscope, it doesn't change the fact that whatever crewman mans the scope should see it. Or, if you're surfaced, your watch crew.

It may be an idea to split it up, such as 'DD is changing course and headed straight for us, sir!' instead of just 'we've been detected!'.

í don´t think so... it was one thing that some people don´t want from sh3, but could be interesting for testing some mods about IA behaviour and detection.

I believe that SH3 had a crew voice saying "Destroyer is entering attack run!" but it was one of those unused files (I never heard it, anyways). That would have been neat if it was actually used!

Actually I remember hearing that in SH3.
