Default Off topic but thought you UKers would like

The lousy weather in SH3 got me to thinking about something i was witness to a while back.

So there is a British Airways flight that stopped here in Texas at DFW international airport. and the british airways crew was in a conversation with an AA crew. anyhow this crusty old British Airlways flight attendant got to talking about the weather and how the layover was and she says to one of the AA pilots...

"Oh dear it is soooo dreadfully hot here in this country, I cant understand why people would choose to live here... im sure glad we British gave this aweful place to you Americans!"

and without missing a beat the AA captain says "Hold on there just a second.... every history book I've read says we TOOK it from ya, not that you gave it to us." the whole group of AA and BA pilots burst out laughing...

except for the flight attendant of course who just got up and walked off. :rotfl:

so on a weather related note... is it normal for the weather in and around the Great Island Nation to go to raining relentlessly without sign of change for weeks on weeks at a time?

i can assume thats the case.

You wouldn't be far wrong in that assumption. We Brits do things differently, our winter is usually sunny but cold & our summer is usually wet but warm. Go figure.

Oh, just FYI we did give it back to you.:p:rotfl:

Call me Mr Nerdy, but have a lookie here:

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/...ics/ukrain.txt

As you can see, quite variable! What the figures don't show is regional variability which is also large.

Now where's me raincoat?

Of course the weather out at sea can be quite different to whats on land

The North Sea is an inhospitable place at best

I grew up reading Enid Blyton's and James herriot's books. And watched quite many british tv series, like Shoestrings, All creatures great and small (my favorite), tinker tailor soldier spy, .. what else ... the Beatles said that "you get a tan from standing in an English rain"

Anyway that left me with one particular picture I see each time I hear about UK ... I know it's not accurate, but here's the picture I see: cloudy all the time
